Thank you so much! I think this is the better tutorial of GIMP I've ever seen.

Mr Davies could you make a tutorial how to create and add nice looking sun to the image? Your video about adding light was great.

Enjoyed the tutorial. Speaking of lights... the background light sometimes can be as simple as an speedlight behind the model. Just control the amount of light with the 1/2^N setting and how wide it is with the zoom setting. For the key light... I'd say there's actually just one, may be a beauty dish as per the shadow characteristics. It is coming frontal from slightly above (enough to not appear in the pupil of the model eyes) and a bit to the left. Yes, just check the nose tip shadow. The shadow of the fur on the shoulder looks consistent with this.

Great! A bit sad because we need to use the FG selection tool, a tool I couldn't master until today, but the end result makes up for the effort! May I suggest for a future tutorial how to make a photo collage using GIMP? 😊

Sounds like there’s nothing to be sad about if you’ve mastered it today! I have a class on photo collages at gimpschool.com which I recommend you check out. Might do something on more abstract collages soon. It’s up for consideration. Thanks for watching!

I will download the image and try this out. This is a good tutorial and I liked the placement of the color gradients. However, your light source analysis was off. This photograph was created with a two-light set up. The key is a tight directional light placed on-axis and raised at 45-degrees. My guess, a standard beauty dish with a grid and sock. The background light is a speedlight/strobe pointed at the backdrop and is placed directly behind the model around shoulder height. I mostly follow the shadows with key and fill lights. The two-stop drop beneath the bottom lip, sharp cheekbones, butterfly beneath the nose are all hallmarks of paramount lighting. Catchlights also show light souces, but here I see it in her right index fingernail. For background lights I follow gradients. There's a post-prod vignette, but the spread around the model is fairly even with the bright point in the center. A light bounce was likely used to brighten shadows underneath the chin and jaw.
