I got stuck 48 seconds into this video. I tried to click on "add new fill" from the appearance window but it was grayed out and won't let me click it.

JUST CLICK THE TEXT, TAKE SELECTION TOOL, CLICK SOMEWHERE EMPTY AREA THEN CLICK TEXT THEN IT WILL WORK.

for some reason when i apply a gradient to my text no matter what the gradient is the text just goes black
