Thank you, this is exactly what I needed. I saved the symbol as a style and can now easily apply it to any polygon (I'm new). I wish it was just as easy to create the labels so you don't have to create new layers, do the "to lines" and then "explode" then delete unneeded layer every time. Is there?

click on the layer from the layer pane, select the features you want to copy, ctrl+C now click on the layer you want to copy the features to, make sure you click its edit mode before (small pencil) and click ctrl+V you can also create a new layer on the fly by clicking CTRL + ALT + V instead
