Sorry for late reply. DIVA GIS is undergoing some update now, the site is not working. But u can get your shape files from other sources. Just search for the GIS agency of the country where u are based. There are open source spatial data that can be useful for u.

oh I think you didnt lock the layers of each map after creation before you went ahead to draw the other maps. You may have to draw each map again in the layout view. But make sure you lock each changes u make before drawing another map in the same layout view
