Hi, I can't add the mod to the game, I did the tutorial exactly step by step, but every time I go to enter it gives an error "this mod cant be added into your game cause its not an smapi mod" could you tell me help?, I don't know what to do.

I just want to say this is the best I've seen. At first, I watched this and was like "hmmm I'm sure I can find another video to watch, too." But every time I come back to this. I've now managed to make functioning mods for NPCs, including modded NPCs like Stardew Expanded. If anyone wants to do more than editing individual images, I recommend finding a mod similar to what you want to make and then looking through the content.json to figure out what they were doing. Omg this was so much fun! Also, check your spelling if things don't work... it's a likely culprit.

I haven't figured out how to get the mod to work but to fix "folder is empty" you have to change the file types into json and the image to png!

Hello! I can help you with that, what you need to do when making the manifest and content json folders is go through notepad, paste the code in and then click "save as" and then "all files" and then you name it manifest.json or content.json to save it as a json file :)

help!! When loading the game it says that there is no manifest.json file, but there is. I checked if it had something wrong on the coding but it was all right.

Are the manifest and content files actually .Json files? Or does it say they're txt.files? I had the same issue but had to convert them to .Json files and it was fixed.

you have to change the format for your json files! and make sure image is png!

I had to convert my files into being json files through a converter then I had to copy and paste the words ‘manifest.json’ and ‘content.json’ from another mods title to my own mods title, which finally got my mod to work!
