Making My First Crocheted Sweater

Hi, thanks for watching. This was inspired by the JW Anderson colorblock patchwork cardigan that Harry Styles wore.

You can make it any color you want. I'm making a black one with white trim and white sleeve blocks.

I started this same pattern but I made it just slightly bigger. This pattern is so much fun! I love the weight of the basketweave stitch and I wanted it to be more of a duster! I love this pattern! When i finish it I will post a photo for you! I am 30yo and have been crocheting for 21 years and learning new things over time but this will be the first cardigan/sweater I have ever done! So excited!

I love how you demonstrate and discuss all your steps. I am making my first cardigan and this is very helpful. I decided to use three colors instead of four (coffee, latte, and cream). The only other change I made is instead of doing a dc at the very end of the row, I do a hdc. I find that this makes the ends look a bit tidier imo. I will also launder (in a mesh laundry bag) the finished squares to make the acrylic yarn I used a bit softer and more flexible. I am half way through making my squares and can't wait to have the finished product. Thanks so much for this video, it really inspired me to start this project.

I don't know how to explain it, but this video made crochet click for me. I've been trying to learn for weeks and haven't been able to get it, I was ready to just drop it and move on to something easier but I decided to follow along with this just to try and I actually managed to do it successfully. This is so gorgeous! I want to recreate it but without the basketweave pattern since I'm a complete beginner. I was wondering - could you tell me the dimensions of the squares so I can try to get them the same size?

So if you use similar yarn and crochet hook, the squares should measure about 12cm or about 4 1/2 inches. That's how long mine were. Hope this helps!

You are a great teacher. One suggestion would be to omit the music as it is very distracting and at many points is playing as you are speaking. Good tutorial though!
