Can you explain how to do the mask layer on the grey lower part of the eye. Like how to stop the blur from going onto the outside of the eye. I've replayed the vid and googled and cannot for the life of my figure it out. :-)
@MegWayne4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! I simply put the shape I want masked “inside” of the masking shape in the layer panel. Just by grabbing the layer to mask, and dragging over the masking shape layer and try to move your pointer slightly to the bottom right, you should be able to release the click and have the shape under it. And it’ll be masked and both will still be editable.

Great video! I'm buying this program soon for my daughter soon. You said you were using a pen. Is the program in your tablet or computer? Sorry if that's a noob question, I have 0 knowledge about graphic design.
@MegWayne3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I use the desktop version only and have a Wacom tablet instead of a mouse. They do have an iPad version. Depending on how old and proficient your daughter is, and if the goal is to do illustration work, I’d strongly suggest accompanying that with illustration books/courses if needed or just encourage illustration practice outside of Affinity, cause Affinity is just a tool, it doesn’t help becoming a great designer on its own. It’s the number one concern I get in comments and it’s common to put a lot of hope in the tool and feel crushed when the result is not as good as work from designers who’ve been practicing for over a decade outside of software. Regarding the pen/iPad option, it depends on preferences and what people end up more comfortable with, the same way some artists hate doing realistic drawing with pencils and favor ball pen instead. I hope this helps, sorry for the long answer, I tried to be thorough!

Hi! If you're talking about the artboard, you just need to select it, and click a color in the color panel (you can also just make a big rectangle and lock the layer). If you're talking about the gray background in the app, it's under UI preferences.
