I am finished decorating, what I can do this year. I fell in August and broke 2 Metatarsals 4th and 5th, has surgery, and am still in a boot, going to therapy. I always make our home very festive. I did my best with a lot of help from children and grands. Next year will me back to normal. Your home l beautiful and with your family coming it will be a fun time. God Bless

I am almost done with my decorating for Christmas. I have a few more things to do before our children and their families come for Thanksgiving!!! The front porch is our next battle. We have a fun idea, but executing it is another story. Doesn't it just feel good to have the decorating behind you? I breathed a sigh of relief. @@terryheden4057 I am so happy to hear you're putting up the tree. Christmas carries so many different emotions, good and sad, anxiety and exhaustion but I can always find peace when I look at a Christmas tree and its beautiful lights. I really miss my dad but especially during the holidays and I can always find him in my heart while sitting quietly looking at the tree. You won't need anything else unless you're up to it. The holidays should never carry the weight of more undue stress. I love having you here with us. Many blessings ❤

I told myself I would be strong and leave my fall decor up, but ended up doing our Xmas decorating upstairs this week. I do very little upstairs, so enjoyed doing more. I went and got quite a few things from thrift stores and regular stores. On Dec 3rd, after we are back from a trip, we will get our regular decor out of the garage and the real decorating will start. We went to New Orleans earlier this year and brought back a lot of bead necklaces. Mardi Gras will be my theme for the tree. I hope it works out. I’m excited to get into it, as I have been in the Christmas mood for about a month now. I did take our fall decor out yesterday so that I can just clean and dust once back.

@@ConnieMW10 I love fall and it's so hard to let go of all those warm colors but the pull of Christmas is hard to resist. I think adding special touches over several weeks is a lot easier to manage but sometimes it's hard to stop myself. We hope you have a wonderful trip and I think your Mardi Gras tree sounds amazing. Yes, I’ve already started decorating for Christmas. We’re not having any company for Thanksgiving so it works out. This will be the last year for the 9 ft tree. I will try to help decorate it. I got 3 beautiful lanterns for Christmas last year and will decorate with them. This last year I’ve purchased some new things for my house. It’ll be fun incorporating them into my designs. My friend and I made ornaments with air dry clay last week. We have 4 cookie sheets full of ornaments. Now to get them painted. We’ll be putting our grandkids names on some. I was also lucky to increase the size of my Fostoria Americana dishes. I have service for 24 plates, 3 types of goblets and all the serving pieces. My sister found them in the Midwest at an estate sale. She shipped 5 boxes to me. I’ll be having brunch either Christmas Eve morning or January 1. I’m also going to have another grandchild in May, 2025. My rheumatoid arthritis has flared up so I’m moving really slow. Thankfully I have a housekeeper who also takes care of me. She decorated my Christmas tree last year. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Our daughter and family left for Hawaii today so we’ll be solo this year. I hope everyone is thankful for friends and family. Take care, Jan

We're having a very quiet Thanksgiving as well. Our daughter lives here, but the rest of our family is out of state and its just not as easy to get together, which I miss terribly. I've not had a 9ft tree in quite a few years now but I do remember the effort it takes to get it decorated. Your lanterns will be beautiful. I too have rheumatoid arthritis. I've had my right hip fully replaced and need my left one done. It's bone on bone, but I had a bad recovery with the last one and I'm just not looking forward to it. Plus I gained a bunch of weight and need to get it off first. Oh well, what do we do, right? I hope your flare doesn't last long and that you'll get some relief soon. And congratulations on the new grandbaby. I'm waiting for my kids to get married so I can get some grandbabies. We do hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving. I'll be praying for you to find some relief soon from the pain. ❤ Jennifer
