Creating a mane and tail with real hair! :D How i do it.

Hey hey everyone, in today's video i am going to show you how i hair my sculptures with real tibetan lambfur to make the fluffy and pretty :D
I tried to keep the speed of the video slow so it is easier to follow just hope my hands arrant to much in the way haha, sigh recording 3d art is difficult

The sculpture for this video is a one of a kind and 100% hand sculpted and painted by me, the horn i had originally sculpt and was used to create a mold to cast the transparent shiny horn with.

I used fabri-tac glue :) it is super strong and doesn't yellow over time

This is really well done! I love that you sculpted the tail bone (people who don't really know horses are unaware that the tail has a bone) I love the use of this type of hair because the fine fibres look 'right " in this scale. I am doing a bigger toy horse to use in 1:6 dioramas and I will definitely take this video into account when I do it. I will tag you if I put it up anywhere. What is a "pony" in this respect? I'm assuming you are talking about the forelock but I am not sure...I have never heard anyone call any part of a horses hair a "pony" in over 60 years of owning horses! You really need to stop calling it that because it's really confusing Lol! A pony is a small horse or a lock of human hair tied to resemble a horses tail on a human head. Apart from this you have really done a beautiful and authentic looking horse! I really love the way you used hair texture and colour to give the impression of a real horse's skin.

What if I wanna do q forelock but the forelock is already sculpted in and I dont wanna put it over the sculpted 1? What do i do? And i can just cut off a sculpted tail.

You will have to remove the sculpted mane and tail if you want to replace it with hair, by cutting or sanding it off the sculpture (a dremel is a handy tool for that) This is often done in the model horse customisation community. For the tail it's handy to try and keep some kind of tail bone to get a realistic haired tail, otherwise you will end up with a weird Barby doll horse tail that falls flat and has no dynamics.

@@JenWFineArts lol ik that for the tail, but for the forelock I didn't tysm maybe if I watch enough yt vids and google on how to do this stuff I can get some beginner stuff to make it lol ik it wont turn out perfect at 1st, I can already imagine how terrible it'll look lol 👀

@@heavenly_hooves if your new into the hobby then maybe it helps to start with a smaller or cheaper model (maybe a sleigh horse?) and keep your favorites larger or more expensive models for when you feel more experienced :) just give it a try and don't worry about the out come to much, it's a process we all go trough and we all start from scratch :) you'll get the hang of it the more you try it :)
