Bonjour My Pixels. Bien amicalement de France Hello My Pixels. In the workshop I run, I am used to having my members make classic kaleidoscopes. I am delighted to discover today this other very spectacular method. Thank you for this very clear tutorial and I will try it out in the workshop. Just a question: When you colored your stripes on the tan side, you used a series of colors. When you turned your triangle over to notice in color on the other side, you did not use the same colors overprinted. Does this matter, or is it deliberate, and how does it impact the end result? Kind regards from France

Hi there, thank you for your comment! No, I did not use colors on the other side. I just coloured the outer side of the mirror.

How do you know how far apart the horizontal lines should be from one another? Is the spacing deliberate or something you jusy decide on?
@my-pixels
@my-pixels 3 ай бұрын
Just random placement. After you make your first kaleidoscope you will see what the lines look like depending on their placement. You can then adjust the position and distance in your next model to reflect your preference.

I can't find a good quality mirror to do this. I ordered some from Amazon they were too thin. Where did you get the .8mm sheets from?

Hey, I got mine here www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07ZX96ZXT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Looks like they are no longer available. There is 2mm mirrors available here www.amazon.ca/Adhesive-Acrylic-Flexible-Stickers-Frameless/dp/B09Q89PNRL/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3PB38LQFVINJV&keywords=Flexible%2BCuttable%2BMirror%2BSheet%2B6%22%2Bx%2B9%22%2C%2BSelf%2BAdhesive%2BMirror%2BStickers%2BPlastic%2BMirror%2BTiles%2B4%2BPieces&qid=1690162752&sprefix=flexible%2Bcuttable%2Bmirror%2Bsheet%2B6%2Bx%2B9%2B%2C%2Bself%2Badhesive%2Bmirror%2Bstickers%2Bplastic%2Bmirror%2Btiles%2B4%2Bpieces%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-2&th=1. Can acetone remove any type of coating of mirror? The one I'm using is of 3.5 mm thickness and with the measurements same as of yours. I tried scraping it for it to become transparent but it hasn't worked well. Do i really need to buy acetone for that?
@my-pixels

The reason behind using acetone is to remove the mirror coating on a plastic mirror. So far, it's been working fine on those mirrors.
