I started doing that last year but I found that 12Guage solid core copper wire with the insulation sheath removed and hot meted in works great. That wire you use takes a little longer piece and changes your FOC slightly. The copper wire keeps it short as the lighted nock! good luck! Go 18!!

Its what I have laying around. Might not be perfect but it worked

You're talking about changing FOC by at max 1%. Idk if anyone on the planet would be able to tell a difference. It's great to be detailed in a build or set up but there's no need to over think it!

buy firenocks save yourself the headache. you can repair/rebuild the lighted nocks or they sell weights that match the weight. they cost more but the ability to change batteries, replace parts/etc makes up for the cost in the long run. love the channel btw!

Just sight in with the lighted nocks and practice with standard nocks. The lighter grain nock won't make a noticeable difference in flight and the sight might be off a few yards past 50 or 60. Just a couple hours ago I shot arrows that were 25 grains heavier than what my sight tape is dialed for and it was only off 6 yards at 90.

I can and have done that in the past. Coming from a background in racing where we measure and weigh everything to the smallest margins, this just feels normal for me. I prefer everything to be exact, and any inconsistency come from the shooter rather than the equipment. Don’t think either way is wrong, just different strokes for different folks. Thanks for watching!

I understand that, I was the same way for years. 90% of people watching this video will spend more time gluing shit in their nocks than they will shooting them. I love tinkering, absolutely love it, but nothing beats clearing the mind and just shooting though. Like you said, to each their own! If exact weights, tolerances and flight characteristics are what you're going for, the few extra bucks for practice nocks would seem to be the most logical and well worth the investment. Guess then you're out a "hack" video for views.

Idk if it makes a difference but I was looking to fix the same issue on my axis arrows and saw the wire trick. I didn’t end up going with it because I was afraid if the wire was more to one side of arrow it would give weird flight patterns. I didn’t test and it may not. What I ended up doing was using hot melt and gluing in a HIT insert in the nock end then if I wanna remove I can.

I haven’t seen any flight inconsistencies. I do make sure the wire is as straight as it can be before installing it the shaft. So far they are all holding up.

Go buy firenocks and they sell weighted nocks to match your lightened ones.

I do think this is a good idea but it might shoot a little different not because of the weight but how tight/loose the knock holds onto the serving string not sure by how much just something to think about

And you changed your FOC and your weight balance 🤷 Length of your light nock 2 times smaller than your "solution". 🤷 On close distance that is not noticeable. After 30..40 yards there would be small difference, that grows with every 10 yards more.
