Two of this years best thumb button releases have dropped from two of the top companies, Stanislawski (Stan) and Ultraview. I have shot both of these releases and have come to a conclusion on which works best for me and why. Both are phenomenal and I would not feel worried taking either with me into the woods or onto the target line.

I have the Onnex,hinge 2 just received UV thumb. It’s so much easier hooking on to the D Loop with your middle finger with the onnex versus having to dislodge your pointer finger to hook to your D Loop with the hinge2 and the button. All three are fine products and have their spot with my shooting. Always tinkering

Well done on the comparison 👍. Not sure if you mentioned that the Onnex will eventually come in 5 different sizes as compared to Ultraview's two. UV did a lot of work to keep the release on the quieter side, though the quietest bow is still louder than the noisiest release, so it's kind of moot. Stan is supposedly working on offering finger extensions with lanyard attachments since they forgot to put one on the Onnex 🤦. No idea when they'll start offering them, though, since they have their hands full.

Thanks for the kind words! I didn’t, Stan does offer the most in terms of size options but I feel like the majority of people fall in the middle of the bell curve and the UV releases cover most people. I did hear they might have an offering to come out with a finger extension, but if they come to market anything like the Onnex releases, it’s gonna be a while…🤦🏼‍♂️

I was in the market for my first button and was looking at the B3 Exit Pro, but the shop insisted I try the Stan as well. Of course they did, it was over double the price. I shot the B3 and it felt great and shot well, but I didn't realize how much I wanted a locking release until then, which was a deal breaker for me. I shot the Stan at their recommendation and right out of the box it felt great, but it felt even better shooting the heavy metal. I originally didn't plan on spending that much for a release and I knew I wanted to try the UV as well. While I was there I wanted to try out a few bows (Carbon One, Mach 34, Omnia, & SS34) just for fun and used the Stan while doing so. Carbon didn't win me over, but the Stan sure did. They sold me the Stan at $285 and I had $120 store credit to boot, so even if I had tried and like the UV more, the price still would've been a deal breaker. It is more than I planned on spending, but I like to be a one and good for a while type of guy. I think I am more than good with the Stan for quite a while. Appreciated the video, it was one of a few I watched when considering buttons, and all your other content.

Just a thought…… I have noticed the uv button adds about a 1/4” to my draw length compared to the Stan onnex and the nock to it. Seems to me the uv button holds better on the d loop just hanging. The Stan onnex will slip off a lil easier. That being said the Stan is easier to attach to your d loop. Just my opinion But I find the uv button feels better even tho the Stan has more adjustments. I know first hand Ultraveiw is a really great company to deal with….. amazing customer service. I can’t speak to Stan. At the end of the day both are excellent releases. Really good job breaking the difference down in between the two.
@jeffcordero_
@jeffcordero_ Жыл бұрын
Chuck I did notice a lot of the same things. Because my bow was already setup to run the UV Hinge 2 I had already made that 1/4” adjustment to my draw to make it feel right. I think it’s a situation where you’ll want to set your bow up for the release your gonna shoot the most. I noticed the same things with the string retainer on the Dloop. Depending what loop material your using (something smaller like BCY 23) I did notice you could wiggle the Onnex off and you couldn’t with the UV Button. Just something to keep an eye on. Great customer service. I’ve talked to them in the past asking some questions and they were prompt and very easy to work with.

Im wanting to order Stan's new clicker version of this Onnex release but I am very unsure if I should go with medium or Large. I wear a size 9 glove (medium) and Stan's website states to go by glove sizing. Seeing as though the one you have in this video looks like a large based on the "L" just under the neck, how did this size feel to you in the hand?

So does the Ultra view have an safety pin (like the Stan) so you can practice pulling back (aiming drills) without worrying about the release going off? Just to let you know I'm currently shooting an Carter 4 finger chocolate addiction that has slight modifications. Mainly an ceramic magnet held on by aluminum tape. The reason for this is that I wear an magnet necklace underneath my shirt when shooting (I'm a target shooter) and I simply hang the release on the outside of my shirt for "hands free" arrow loading. 🏹🤠👍

I can't move away from wanting to sell my UV button because it has drastically changed my anchor point. I recorded myself and my knuckles pretty far behind compared to when I shoot another release. All of this is due to the longer neck. Even MFJJ from podium archery talked about it and said some may have to shorten their draw length and no, I did not watch that video first before noticing that my anchor point changed. Sure I can find a new anchor point but I shouldn't have to. I can drop a half inch in draw length but I shouldn't have to either. The owner of the my pro shop also told me he's seen some people shorten their draw length. I am waiting for the tru ball trident pro flex, which will hopefully fix my issue. Is that my only issue? No it is not. After only about 200 shots I can hear it creaking on the inside. It feels super solid and it is quiet, but I don't know that it is for me.

More small pieces to lose and the accessories aren't the same quality as the release itself. The pegs and screws can be a pain to work with. The UV Button is so well engineered and manufactured that the components are better quality and you can feel it. I wasn't sure if I wouldn't like not being able to rotate the barrel like the Stan, but it being concave I think makes thumb placement more consistent.

What I did do - I prefer a 4 Finger Release but the 5/64ths Finger Extension Retention Screw with the OnneX was WOEFULLY INADEQUATE; so I replaced it with a #2 Phillips Pan Head 6/32's x 5/8 Screw and LOCKED HER DOWN, forever. My PerfeX resistance heavy metal died in 15 months, i'm not sure i want to buy Stan because when your first expensive release dies faster than ones what are 1/4 of it's cost you start to doubt the manufacturer. And with 1 year warranty and what you have to ship it yourself to manufacturer in US (would cost me $50 to ship it to them, then pay for repair, then pay to ship it back) makes it completely not worth the premium price they ask for it (and yes, MOST of the cost is r&d, brand name and following support, and not the manufacturing cost).

Excellent video, and it hit the high notes i discovered as well. From my Stan Resistance to the UV Button- huge difference. I feel like the resistance break is very inconsistent and I proved it with a trigger pull gauge test. Had as much as 4 lb variation shot to shot. I get that it's a resistance (same body as the thumb button) to thumb button but the UV just sits in my hand better and had wayyyy better ergonomics than the Stan for me. I did notice that the UV is chewing up my D loop very quickly, maybe I need to look into that further. I also love the heavy SS UV vs the aluminum Stan, it is difficult to explain why but it is just better for me. If you're on the fence, UV also will send you a plastic replica of the release (you pay shipping) so you can feel it in your hand. Everyone is different obviously, but there's my experience.

As always your videos are clean and informative…but as I have said before, ultraview is being ultra cheap when it comes to its customers. Stan is less expensive and comes with everything, whereas ultraview is more expensive and comes with nothing…I try to buy quality, and saved up for the onnex. If I can help it I’ll never buy another release again. Good luck with your Montana elk hunt.

@@jeffcordero_ I think ultraview has rubbed me wrong so I can't be unbiased when talking about them. I should be more fair.

You can adjust the knob, but the with the Stan you can adjust the knob on another axis that you can’t with the UV Button

Do you have early onset ALZHEIMERS? You adjust YOUR release, and the next day forget which screw of 2(?) Do what? Im 66yo, I think that problem is a result of the process of testing and it seemed slightly, "almost" imperceptibly biased. Maybe unconsciously, Then the end nailed it.. this was impossible for you to do an unbiased review. Jmho.
