Works very well. Thank You! I learned you must pay attention to every detail and if problems occur, as I had on second schematic, save and relaunch as second schematic did not give the proper Navigate/Edit Schematic Block until I did so.

Thanks for your advices. I just need a symbol and function for mono- and stereo-potis.

Have a look at this. The Tap parameter is the percentage of the total Value of the pot, the is tap positioned. www.dropbox.com/s/grjngrllr3pksx2/Tapped-Pot.zip?dl=0 . I will have a look for the stereo one.

an elegant video. How can the Analog Devices AD202KN isolation amplifier be used in LTspice? The only spice download found was a snapEDA. Is it useable in LTspice for circuit simulation? thank you.

Firewalker have you produced a tapped potentiometer symbol, for example one that is used on a pre-amp loudness control circuit?
@fir3w4lk3r6 жыл бұрын
No. I did had the need for one. If I find the time I will have a go at it.
@malland20296 жыл бұрын
Done it... I added a 4th leg based on your video and labelled the 4th leg "4" (for obvious reasons...). I now have a tapped pot symbol. I set the tap at 50%. BTW... Thanks for your informative video... I only started using LT Spice a week ago and following your instructions I now have a tapped pot symbol...

:( where do I save the .asc file, it cant seem to find the schematic
@Abayas.4 жыл бұрын
For anyone else that seems to be having this issue, I found that saving it in the same area as my other spice files made it appear. For example, I saved it to a desktop folder called EE122 Lab because that's where I save my schematics. Not exactly sure 'why' this made it work, but... there it is.

I encountered an issue. When I want to use the potentiometer, it displays the message "Unused ports". Where might be the problem?
@fir3w4lk3r10 ай бұрын
Maybe a change in the newer versions of LT? I will have to try it.

Let's say I want to test a 500k Pot but don't want to do all this creating... if I used a 500k Resistor would that be the same but I know giving me the full 500k force? That is all I want anyway... the schematic calls for a 500k reverse log pot, but I want to test it at max anyway. Couldn't I just use a 500k resistor> ??

I am trying this and have been over and over the video and checked everything (I think) I keep getting the following.... Error on line 6 : r:x1:1 n001«:1» nc_01«:2» r(a) Unable to find definition of model "r" * Unknown parameter "a" Error on line 7 : r:x1:2 nc_01«:2» 0«:3» r(b) Unable to find definition of model "r" * Unknown parameter "b" Fatal Error: Missing resistance value for "x1:r2" What's happened? Also the curly brackets {} don't appear to work. It seems to need the round brackets () - I am using Version 4.23k
@fir3w4lk3r8 жыл бұрын
+TinyWords Just checked it with 4.23k and it still works fine. Can you upload your files?

+TinyWords To the file pot.asc change R(a) and R(b) to {Ra} and {Rb}. Dont put only "a" or "b" to inside curly brackets.

+firewalker Ah, yes that worked. That was a stupid mistake, I don't know why I missed that! Thanks.

this is not a potentiometer at all. A simulated potmeter must have a simulated axis moving the contactpoint 2 over simulated carbon film etc. but most imprtantly: it should have a (simulated) knob that the user (that is me!) can turn around, in real time, with an electrical effect in Spice, without recompiling! Your propose a simulated voltage divider. A complicated and smart one, nice. But is NOT a potentiometer, since the user cannot turn the knob. LTSpice has of july 2018 no potentiometer? Even after 30 years of existence Human Control is still ignored by LTSpice? In fact LTSpce has no significant real world interaction at all, but why not give people at least a good work around?
@fir3w4lk3r6 жыл бұрын
LTspice doesn't offer "real time" simulation. And I am not aware of any SPICE engine to offer it. You can use the tools it offers to have variable quantities though.
@marcelwierda62626 жыл бұрын
that is my point indeed: a potmeter is a realtime device. And therefor you cannot make a potmeter in simulations. Only workarounds. And sorry to say but then your title is misleading. Ppl who watch your video expect a potentionmeter solution, not a "non interactive workaround".
@markorocznik38386 жыл бұрын
I belief taht what he meant is, that there should be an input knot (lets say 0..1V) which equals the potentiometer position (0 to 100%). This way you can do nice system simulations.
@codydowling11206 жыл бұрын
Not really, because we pretty much already know how LTSpice works. It is a simulated potentiometer, just in the same way that if use a voltage source I don't ask where can I turn the knob to adjust the level, or if I adjust the temperature of the simulation I don't have to have a thermostat on the wall. I can do a series of sweeps if I want to see the behavior over operating conditions. :)
