I made a root over Ganesh statue about ten years ago. Using the exact same technique! It was experimental for me then, when I was just learning how to make bonsai. It was a Moreton bay fig, that grew up as a seedling from fruit bat droppings underneath a mulberry tree in my dad's mates garden.. It's got quite a story. Now has native rock orchids and ferns etc all growing like a jungle in a pot! Love your work bro. Peace and Love from Sydney!

Flowers on the Vitex also have a nice fragrance. Similar to a Lilac. Nice planting.

Happy birthday, Jerome! The vitex with the statue are a great match-up; can't wait to follow the progress on this one as well. You and Mari seem to be thriving up in GA, but I do miss seeing you both and your wonderful work here in FTL.

Really like it. It's something I plan to do soon. I'm am surprised though, you are the only KZbin bonsai channel that defoliates at the same time as repotting. Both are quite stressful on the tree, which will make it hard for the tree to have enough reserves to push out new foliage. These are also usually done at different times of year.
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply3 жыл бұрын
Not with tropical trees. You want to defoliate to take the stress away from the tree. Actually leaving the foliage is more stressful. Also deciduous trees are reported without foliage.

That looks awesome I would go with the tree front

Great video once again Jerome! Quick questions when it comes to repotting a root over statue, how would we go about it as i'm guessing its different to a normal bonsai repotting? Thanks in advance from Cambridge, UK

Love it so much! I just found at the flea market a tufa statue of reclining Aztec or Myan God. I want to create an old mexican jungle scene. I am wondering tree to use here in Ohio.

I really love this!!! I’m into crystals and have many I plan to used in similar style but I love root this particular root over statues as the best character/tree combo! I hope you do not mind that I will keep this in my thoughts to do something similar with. If I ever came to Florida again… do you guys have visitors?

This is awesome! How do you ensure the roots will grow down into the soil and not just fill up the "air layer" moss/plastic wrap section?
@dhnbbn10993 жыл бұрын
I've done something like this as an experiment using some cheap material... it's as he says, he pulls it tight using the shrink wrap so that the moss section is just a thin layer and fits into the contours of the statue.. and then he will have opportunity to be more selective and prune away the bits which don't fit the design/overlap etc anyway.
