Loved this and all the vids. I have the opportunity to pick up some notation gear to supplement my Push, mini key looks like a nice portable solution to my impulse videos. I am trying to decide between this and the launchpad, launch control and the circuit. Any suggestions on what helps you get more done?

I would say if you're looking to supplement the push, go launchpad or launchcontrol, they make great partners and allow easy access to things you'd otherwise have to scroll through on the push. Thanks for watching and for all the support James!

Do you know the way to control the Ableton mixer with these rotary pots? I'm not sure if they're supposed to, it's been a while since I used Launchkey Mini mk2. Got my hands on it today and no luck making the knobs have any impact on the mixer. Neither on volume, nor on sends. The surface currently uses midi channel 1, it's green when holding the incontrol button. Any ideas? Thanks! I've an obscure feeling that a few years ago when I just bought the device, it used to control track volume, but no luck now even on another pc.

Hi Taetro. Great video - very helpful! I'm wondering how I set it up so that I can have say a drum pad on track 1 and record say an 8 bar beat, then overdub layers over same beat within the track. I'd preferably like to do this without using looper. I would like to be able to do the same thing within each track such that I can have say a synth in track 2, record a four bar melody then loop it and layer over the top of it, gradually building all of the instruments. Is this possible?
@slimanddusty7 жыл бұрын
Example: Lay down four bars of kick, then overdub snare, then over dub high hat all within track 1. Then within track 2 write a bass line, then chords / melody. Then I would have one instrument per track. Any help is appreciated!
@Taetro7 жыл бұрын
this is Ableton's basic function, separate tracks are instruments and using MIDI you can achieve what you are describing.
@BenVanTreese6 жыл бұрын
Note: This only works with midi, you'll need a looper or something else to overdub audio clips. Edit: I misspoke about the midi overdub option, with the session record button this is the default. The other is for arrangement view clips, not session view. You want to use the session record button. Once you've recorded a single loop on a clip, you can hit the pad for the clip again to stop the recording (this makes the clip say 4 bars long), once you've done that, you can hit the session record button which will allow you to play other parts of the instrument on top of the previous midi notes. I use this to record say, only the bass and snare part of a drum track, and then on the second loop of it, overdub it with the high-hat, and it will then all be stored in the single clip. Another option, if you want to keep the original loop, and a loop with high-hats (or whatever), is to duplicate the clip into the next scene, transition to that scene, start the new clip, and then use session record to start the overdub. Now you can switch between both versions of the drum track. This helps me keep my track count down when I'm doing looping so that everything is accessible easily on my launchpad. If you're wanting to do some kind of hands free looping, you can plug in a pedal to any midi controller that accepts it, and have it trigger the session record button as well.

Can we record Rhythms and use left hand chord section with Accompaniment & and simultaneously play in right hand?, just like YAMAHA PSR 2100?, Q3. And can we use for live playing in church to change instantly the specified instruments one after the other, Q4. I planing to use these keyboard to play in church in live & to use for home recording purpose. Q5. Can we use 16 launch pads with Memory registering with 16 instruments like piano, guitar, strings, flute, trumpet, synth, violin, viborphone & etc. for church live playing one after the other instantly. Thank please clear my doubts.

hi, can i personalize via midi map 8 knobs for example all in the same drum rack and after be able to use the same 8 knobs in any other instrument? it looks like that with the setup i have, once i assign the 8 knobs wherever this knobs stay chained to those parameters no metter what living me without knobs left to do anything else :) cheers
@Taetro7 жыл бұрын
this can actually be achieved WITHOUT custom mapping. the 8 knobs automatically map to the 8 knobs of the selected device on the selected track. So when you switch tracks/devices, the knob functions will switch automatically. This is represented by a blue hand symbol in the title bar of the device. Hope this helped!

they don t do that automatically on external vst or plugins devices..... everty time i open the live i have to remind the knobs of zebra for example etc....
