Recording Sounds For My Sample Song Contest - Live Stream - Jan 1, 2025
In this livestream I'll be creating samples by recording random objects collected from around my place and making them available for download to anyone who wants to participate in my Sample Song contest. I will go over the rules, details and timeline during the stream.
Sample Song Contest Official Rules:
The only audio that can be in your song are the royalty free samples from the “Sample Song Contest 1” sample folder created by Billy Hume and offered for free download from Billy’s Patreon page. The only exception to this rule is that you can use your own voice or another singer that you have recorded. No AI is allowed.
You can use all of the samples or as few as you wish. You can process the samples however you want to, including: chopping them up, tuning and pitching, time stretching, reversing, using plugins….. Whatever you want. You can also use whichever DAW you prefer.
After you have created your song you must mix it to a high quality MP3, WAV or AIFF. 24 bit / 48K Interleaved Stereo is the preferred format but we will accommodate other formats if we can.
You will then send the mix file to Billy Hume via his email: [e-mail]. If the file is too big for email send via Wetransfer.com (not Dropbox please)
The song you create is yours - you own it. You are free to release it separately from this contest in any way you prefer. You are not required to credit Billy Hume as a creator of the original samples, but doing so would be appreciated.
You agree that Billy Hume has full rights to play your song during the Sample Song Contest livestream and any future replays of that livestream. Your song will not be used in any other Billy Hume videos without your permission.
The winner will be decided by popular vote at the end of the livestream. The prize will be a CD of Billy’s album ‘Frisbee Bomb Craters’ and a 2 month membership to Billy’s Patreon at the highest Tier which includes 1 Zoom consultation per month with Billy, so the winner will get 2 consultations.

In order for you to download the Sample Sounds you will need to join Billy’s Patreon which you can do for free. Billy will be collecting emails from new members however your email will NOT be shared or sold or given to any other person, business or entity.
You will not be paid for having your song played during the Sample Song Contest livestream or any future playbacks of that livestream on Billy’s channel. However, you have the right to sell or monetize your song as you wish.

Hey Billy, just started viewing ... what you are doing with the bow and springs😮 you will need to fix the springs on a wooden box to reverbate - otherwise the soundlevel is too low - I know - I made a diy noisebox last year. There's some videos on utube on how to do it - not only by me😅

Cool shit Billy, reminds me of the other Billie (a few years younger) who stood next to a traffic light and was startled by the traffic light's clicking signal for the blind and after she landed (from the jump), the young lady grabbed her iPhone and recorded the signal. Once home from Melbourne and back in L.A., she played the signal to her brother. It was isolated, tuned down and ended up being the rhythm track to her song "bad guy". I would have grabbed my H2n instead of an iPhone, I avoided smartphones as I avoid the bubonic plague. And 30.000 years of engineering, and we still don't have a trustworthy mic stand. By the way, David Hume, was the first philosopher to make the experimental workflow the source of his reasoning. So you do the name Hume justice with this video. But when Billy starts installing microphones in the bathroom to use it as reverb room, stop him 😂. And as a Dutchy , I know about "little green bags", not "little brown bags".
