I used to blow glass....Lime green and purples/pinks - were my favorite color combinations. You've captured that effect here... :P
@AxlndrGaymes7 жыл бұрын
Question: when you do pink n whites (French tips) I noticed you do the nail bed extension first, than do the smile line and free edge. In America I always see them do the smile line and free edge first (whites) then they back fill the nail bed extension (pinks) Is there a reason to do it one way or the other or just a different way things are taught or personal preference?
@helenbutler49237 жыл бұрын
Alex Youmans this technique is the called reverse French , that's the way I was taught in Dublin Ireland and it's usually now the more preferred method for Europe as far as I'm aware... it's popular because of the look of extended nail bed is popular, an easier way to do p&w or any smile line work and it gives the opportunity to go in with file and really refine the shape and sharpness of smile lines
@beccamarie087 жыл бұрын
I think it's a combination of techniques taught and personal preference. Apparently older techs will do the plate first and file the line and then add the acrylic tip. A somewhat newer technique is to do the smile line and free edge first, and so long as you make that line nice and crisp, it's just a simple matter of back filling and filing down to the smile line you created and shaping the nail out.

I’d like to see you do a nail challenge! 4 bowls: one with nail shapes in it, one with themes or color schemes in it, one with different techniques to use (ie 3D, bling, encapsulated stuff, etc, and another with nail types - ie acrylic, gel, tips, transparent, etc... ). choose one attribute from each bowl and incorporate all 4 into one nail set. It would be an improv nail art challenge!

Hi Kirsty. I enjoy your hack videos it’s really helpful if you can’t master a particular area. The thing I noticed is when you put the Musical colour acrylic powder up against the nail plate peach colour, you didn’t match the height/thickness of the tip colour to the plate colour, does this matter if it isn’t?
@Honeychilecrafts7 жыл бұрын
Jo Fearn she got the rest of the thickness with the clear acrylic. Hopes that makes sense.
@iamthunderclan137 жыл бұрын
She doesn’t do it because she always matches the rest of the thickness with the clear acrylic she uses to cap the whole design. Some nail techs do match the smile line thickness but I think you save on product when you do it kristys way.
@karenjones86497 жыл бұрын
Yes especially those favourite colours or limited edition ones.
@amykinsnailart60967 жыл бұрын
She explained its to keep the sharpness of the smile line. If you put other product up to the top, you have to file down a lot to get it sharp again
@saralouisemakeup7 жыл бұрын
Always best to cap glitters so you dont cut into them so its best to do glitter thinly amd cap in clear. If she matched the height with the glitter then capped it would have added more bulk than needed. Just makes things easier :) xx

Love the colours and the smile line tip! Question: Won't the little bit of dregs from scraping away the smile line left on the clear extension show through from underneath?
@ChandlerMuriBing7 жыл бұрын
cindilu2 I was thinking the same thing
@beccamarie087 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would if the color on the plate is extremely dark and the free edge is light or transparent. If that's the case you can always scrape the excess off after cutting. She used an exacto knife on her NYE nails, got clean cuts with that. My nail techs have always used a special tool made just for cutting smile lines. Its a metal disc with different size smile lines around the edge and they use that to get a clean cut line.
@erikamackenzie24086 жыл бұрын
I literally read the comments specifically to see if anyone else noticed that too .... if she didn't do the thin clear layer underneath first she could have filed it off, but maybe not with the clear. Her nails are usually flawless underneath so I'm actually surprised she didn't fix that. :(

Such an elaborate lie to cover that efile cut!
@Meech8176 жыл бұрын
Delisa Jennings Why would she lie? If you are a nail tech you would know accidents happen. Not to mention, Kristy had a cut on her head from the light falling on her, I doubt she cut her head, just to cover up that she accidentally cut her client. If that was the case, she would have just edited the cut out.
