@@darylnaz When I plug that regex into my GA filter, it allows things like (direct). I checked against regex101 and got the same result. I'm looking at something more like this: ^([a-z-]*\.|)(facebook|instagram|linkedin|twitter|t)(\.(com|co|)|)$ which may still need tweaking, but you can test against an unfiltered report (I removed pinterest since I don't care about it)

Hi! Great video! How can I see what pages are below the numbers? Is there a way to add a drill-through capability to this explore report so I can see the individual pages that are receiving traffic from each social media network? Thanks!
@GrowthLearner Жыл бұрын
Yes, add a page dimension to the Rows section and make sure Nested Rows is set to "Yes". That should give you what you want.

Nahp. I get the not data thing. Interesting. Where did the regex "appear" from in this tutorial ? It was like magic !
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I created it from how the values appear for the source dimension. The regex is in the description if you're looking for it.

Hi! Thanks for the video! However for some reason I followed your instructions to bits but the source dimmension is not working from end for some reason. Any ideas why so? Thanks!

Thanks for watching! Check to make sure you're using the same conditions for the filter and the regex matches. This isn't for this case but sometimes I forget something as simple as changing the filter to 'exclude' instead of 'include'. Hope that helps!

If you haven't already, try replacing the users metric with something like sessions.
@samuelruel99192 жыл бұрын
I followed these instructions exactly, and got the data to appear as it does in your video, but the numbers are way off. When doing an explore report I see about half the number of sessions compared to what I see in the traffic acquisition segment for the same exact date range. Could it be an issue with the regex?
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
You may have to adjust the regex to fit the sources you want in that report? I'm assuming you're looking at the traffic acquisition report using the source dimension with the segment. Does using the traffic acquisition segment give you the same sources as the Explorer report? You can adjust the regex accordingly. You can also use regex101.com/ to test your regex.

Hi Thanks for this video! I got results on the comparison but when I did the Free form I get nothing but this message: "No data for this combination of segments, values, filters, and date range. Try editing the variables or settings or remove them." I keep going over the video segments and I don't see what I have different.

When adding the regex, only Facebook data is pulled. No lines for Instagram or Pinterest appear. Why would this be happening?
@GrowthLearner Жыл бұрын
What does your regex look like? I'm guessing you have traffic from those sources as well? Try adjusting the date range.
@bmaddal5 Жыл бұрын
@@GrowthLearner I'm using (.*\.|)(facebook|instagram|linkedin|pinterest|twitter|t)(\.(com|co|)|)$ and even for Facebook, using that regex it shows 8 total users for past 30 days, but if I go to the traffic acquisition report to compare, facebook/social alone has over 3,000 total users for the past 30 days.

When I click on the acquisition and change to 50 rows I do not see any social media networks - it does not drill down for me? But in the old analytics, it is there still. Any ideas?
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, are referring to the Traffic acquisition: Session default channel grouping or the Acquisition Overview out-of-the-box reports in GA4? Unfortunately, those reports won't drill down. This video walks you through how to create a report for social media networks. Or is there something else you're looking for?
@robphelps12912 жыл бұрын
This regex does not work can you double check as the one in your video looks different to the one in description. The description one always gives: No data for this combination of segments, values, filters and date range. Try editing the variables or settings or remove them.
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
There should have been two instances of '\' in the regex. I would expect that the one you tried would return some data even with the slight difference. What dimension are you using for the filter? Any source dimension should work.
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
If you're seeing this error message, "No data for this combination of segments, values, filters, and date range. Try editing the variables or settings or remove them", replace the active users metric with something like sessions. It looks like active users doesn't work with this report anymore. Let me know if that works for you. If you're having issues with the regex in the description, try this, (.*.|)(facebook|instagram|linkedin|pinterest|twitter|t)(.(com|co|)|)$. Thanks for watching! What dimension are you using for rows? Try source and keep sessions for values. The regex is in the description. Here's what I use: (.*\.|)(facebook|instagram|linkedin|pinterest|twitter|t)(\.(com|co|)|)$. Let me know if that works for you.

In "Dimensions, whether we need to use "Source" or "Session Source"?
@GrowthLearner2 жыл бұрын
You can use either. If you want to see the source for each session, then use 'Session source'. You can take a look at documentation for the scope, support.google.com/analytics/answer/11080067. If you want to change the dimension, make sure you remove it from the rows section in the Tab Settings. Otherwise, you can't add it. Thanks for watching and hope that helps!

I'm not sure. It probably depends on how you manage your content. If you're using a content management system, there might be a place to upload a thumbnail as a feature image for the page but that's a guess. Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on that.
