Eraser tool erases the entire stroke by default. It can be erased they way you want if you Expand it into Shape or if you use blob brush

WOW! Thanks for video. :)) But I can`t understand, how you paint over some figures in black (nostrils in 2:22, 2:23)? o___o How do you use "Direct selection tool"? 😥😥

It’s possible to use 2 ways to do it! Make sure the shape you want to fill as black has its entire silhouette connected. Pickup one single point inside this shape with the direct selection tool and press delete twice. You will get it. The other method is by after connecting the entire silhouette of the desired shape, select it, right click and release compound path. All the leaking spaces will be filled. Or Instead of releasing compound path, you can create a bigger shape backwards the lineart select the line art also the shape and use divide on path finder to intersect the shapes. Hope it have helped!

Why do they lower the opacity of the layers for the sketch like that if Illustrator already gives you an option to do that, double click, use as template and that's it, I don't understand what benefit it gives you to do it like that?

There are many things that can be reached in Adobe Illustrator by going through different ways or tools, still having the same result. There’s no right or wrong, there are options to be used and of course I will keep my eyes open to this functionality you have mentioned.
