Yooo! welcome back to steam and steel! You know, if you want to do a map that has better starting cargo, Stormy Coast is a lot better than the desert maps. Also, grade and curve options will help you lay smoother tracks! that poor starting engine is STRUGLING

one of my favourite series you have ever done! heres a few tips (for if you continue this series) *[please click read more, i spent like 40 minutes making this comment]* tracks: to go up and down, set your grade to 2% (up) and -2% (down) this will make sure you can travel as fast as possible. if it takes too long, you can adjust the grade a little more (the higher the digit the more steep it will be) but make sure not to exceed around 3 - 4 grade. also, you can change it via clicking on the grade option and making sure it is on. you will be able to see the grade applied when the track appears. also, it will automatically create tunnels when it appears so it is very very useful! the cargo places can also have a bit down, havent really experimented on how low you can go for filling up cargo, but i assume it is pretty deep. try not to make sharp turns as the train can easily flip over and it is a PAIN to rerail it. (mostly it will face the wrong direction and then by then the coal is probably all gone bla bla bla) a turntable is mainly useful for just moving multiple trains into a different location as it is quite useless to bring cargo on as it will just fall off, but is good for if you need more space for extra trains if you bring friends or members with you to help out coal: make sure to shovel in enough coal. do not click it loads at once, wait for the animation to finish playing first, or else the game will bug out and will infinitely play the animation (mostly just the amount of times you have clicked it) but this will not change the amount of coal you add. you can see your coal in the fire, it is easier to see it when the engine is stopped (fully, loco brake full etc etc) but if you cant see any coal at all, shovel more in. make sure to add enough coal for what you need, i recommend putting your coal until it reaches the top of the l on "Shovel" if you didnt know (i spent the entire video making this comment and glancing back to see if you have been doing things) you can add more coal via the coal thingy near the Freight Depot make sure to keep an eye on your coal! sometimes you need maximum coal, sometimes you need a bit of coal, but anything above average will do just fine as there is no fees for gaining coal as of right now (and i hope that there wont be lol) speed: after you have applied the above, make sure that your reverser is within mid-range. to begin, you dont really need to put the reverser to the very maximum, you only need it 2/3 of the way. after you start moving at a decent pace, put the reverser just above the mid range (or lower if ur going backwards) this uses less steam which is less coal, and the train will go a lot faster. extras + useful things to know kinda (optional) you can change the track type for bridges and other things, looks really cool! just a quick heads up that it will not deform if you try to make a tunnel through the track type. you can sell all of your resources at the freight depot, this can come in handy if you dont have a place to sell them into an actual place, the value is a lot lower (logs sell for 15 each and cordwood is like 27) but very useful to know everything that isnt land or a cargo spot or track etc counts as a tree (cacti, rocks, trees etc etc) whenever loading, turn off your throttle! this just makes it so it will not move (or will have an extremely low chance of doing so) trains have a maximum power and speed! check them out in the shop menu (more info in the cargo section) cargo: im pretty sure (not 100%) that when loading up and filling the carts with cargo, the train gets a lot heavier and may require a bit more power, if so, you can crank up the reverser a little more, but dont put it all the way up unless it really cant make it up somewhere. if it cant make it through a turn, thats a red flag and is essentially just saying that the corner is way too sharp and you should probably make it a wider turn if possible so, i seen at 13:26 that you was confused about why that cargo train thingy (i forgot the name lol)didnt load up, and that is because it is not a cargo train thingy for wood. an easy way to see if it is or not, is to press N (or click the shop button, does the same thing) and find that one. it will show what it can load and what it can not load. things like the brake carriage thing are quite useless, they dont really do anything tbh, so its not really worth wasting money on it hope this helps!

Seniac don't bother making turning loops, you can just run the engine in reverse and it still outputs the same power. If you want the engine at the front then build a bypass track so you can bring it to the other end. Also if you spam press E at the industry it loads faster.

Seniac when driving the steam train you must put the reverser further to the middle but not actually middle to save steam and go even faster so you don’t drain your pressure and waste coal
