Glad to see you are logging your self-care. Have kids and fostering the creative soul is challenging. It doesn’t get easier, but you do get stronger. Those spiritual muscles strengthen giving yourself a respite is essential to creative spirits.

Ooh lovely! The sticky notes, your handwriting, the pictures framed by the text, so neatly arranged! Well done! Even a map!? 🤩

Brilliant post! Your world building is an art unto itself. Inspiring even. You have a refreshing old world methodology. As an old writer and teacher that dreamed of typewriters when I was six years olf, I can appreciate the analog approach.

Yes! I love the use of a happy planner or any ring system like that. MY writing notebook is currently in a smaller ring system (not a full sheet of paper size, but smaller. I forget maybe a6? I always forget the proper names for notebook sizes lol) but I love the flexibility it gives me in regards to moving things around, adding sections, taking sections out, etc. I am excited to see another flip through if you do film one at the end of the month! I love seeing peoples story bibles and writing notebooks, no matter if it is a physical one or a digital one. XD

You are doing a paper version of note taking & writing app. I used to do that. Having too many rewrites, add & change & alternate scenes, paper can no longer support it, so I put to computer instead.

Yay! Another writer who uses Happy Planner! If you're new to Happy Planner, here's a tip: you can buy bigger rings called Expander discs. As you fill up your notebook, if you find it's getting too full, you can switch to the larger discs to give yourself more space instead of having to start a second notebook. About paper - I've used even regular lined paper and although it does come out very easily, if you're careful it stays in fine. The un-punched lined paper pads is one of my go-to's as I'm low income. So, you can technically use any grade of paper. :) By the way, have you ever tried World Anvil? Check it out if you haven't. You can build your own online wiki for your world and readers. Happy Preptober and good luck with NaNoWriMo!

Ooh that's a good tip! And using more paper options will definitely be handy, there's not a lot of prepunched options. And yes, I used World Anvil for my blood magic project work (it's on like draft.. 4? And very epic fantasy in terms of the amount of worldbuilding). It worked pretty well for that project but for the types of worldbuilding I seem to be doing now it's not working as much for my brain. I also have trouble with constantly being in the edit mode which isn't as formatted as well as the regular wiki pages

I have never heard of a Happy Planner before, but it is quite interesting and for anything I need a more physical format, which is certainly something nice, I might consider it. Currently I mostly use Scrivener. I have tried other things that are more specialized and Scrivener seems to work best for me. Glad you found something that works for you.

It's definitely been fun to play around with! I only use Scrivener for drafting and editing but it's a great tool!!!

@@madelinejameswrites I did originally, but I found it very convenient to have my notes and worldbuilding information in scrivener where I could access them quickly and set them next to each other. It has its limits and doing it that way is certainly not for everyone, but it works for me at present. I do like physical notes though, so I will definitely keep the Happy Planner in mind for the future.

I also bought Scrivener two months ago and I cannot wait to use it when writing my second novel! I’m so excited.
