So what about with one of the tiles have the top two thirds of on pillar sticking out of the sump with maybe a railing or a platform stuck to the top of it, and then next to it have the bottom third sticking out with some foam and greabli infill. Maybe also have the very tippy top of some standard cathedral ruins sticking out of the sump.

Maybe you could throw a short ladder down to access the cave area you had prepared?
