I have two large home altars on my two fireplace mantels. One is in my formal living room and the other is in my family room. I also include a bottle of holy water on each altar. So far, my two cats have not jumped on the altars. Saint Gertrude of Nivelles Patron Saint of Cats must be guarding my altars making sure that my cats do not do anything naughty.

Interesting ... My kids asked if they can have an altar in their room. I think this idea of a tiny altar fits in so that everyone of us can have one in their bedrooms ❤ even a corner in a dresser or night stand can work. 😊

I have an older home and there a cutout area in the kitchen for a phone and phone book underneath. I no longer have a home phone. I have pictures of Jesus and Mary, a candle and rosary. I have an open bible in the underneath part. It looks like that's what it was made for honestly.

This was so inspiring. You did a fantastic job. I don't have a home alter since I'm preparing to move but I have crosses & pictures in every room. Several people are heading out for ice fishing at the base of Kusilvak mountains, where my mother was born. She would tell stories of how there were so many people ice fishing from here & surrounding villages, that a priest would come & have mass outdoors. I appreciate you so, so much !

Then they definitely had loaves and fishes! That is so neat, Lena. Keep us updated on how the move is going. Do you have a date yet?

@@catholicmomanddaughter Thank you. I have no set date but I'm thinking by June. Although that means I'll miss harvesting all our berries in July, August & September. And the salmon. But we are where we are meant to be.

Yes I have an altar. It is large. On it I have a 17 inch Our Lady of Grace statue (it is 61 years old. My parents received it an an engagement gift), open Bible, blessed palms in a vase, led candles, prayer cards, Holy Water, Miraculous Medal and a Scapular (belonged to my grandmother It is well over 100 yrs old and fragile so I don’t wear it). Whew! I think I covered it. BTW, please give the Parochial Vicar a chin scratch from me 😺

I love this so much! You both make being Catholic such a joy! I have three altars. One in the kitchen, where my husband made me a shelf; a small tabe in the corner of the living room and the last the top of my bedroom dresser. I'm coming back to the faith, so will be looking for some treasures for my altars.
@catholicmomanddaughter6 ай бұрын
It is so wonderful that you are coming back to the faith! It is truly a joy for us to hear that. It sounds like you have a good set up for your three altars. It is interesting that you mentioned dressers- here we have one dresser with a 12 inch statue of St. Joseph that the Parochial Vicar has never knocked over. We always wonder if he is thinking that St. Jospeh is the Terror of Demons and he's better behave, lol.

I have a little home altar on a spot on my living room wall - a San Damiano crucifix, an antique print of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that also has the Peace Prayer of St. Francis on it (an ebay find), and an image of the Divine Mercy. It's right across from the chair I usually sit in and it's lovely to be able to glance up and see it all. I also have a small statue of Mary (a Goodwill find - love it - vintage) and that sits on my dining chest in the kitchen; sometimes I'll set it on the table so I have her company as I eat!

Loved this! A corner for the Saint/Feast of the Day as a reminder throughout the day can be so simple...Garden displays are fabulous too (plants with Christian meaning, ie. St. John's Wart, Marigolds, roses and lillies for our Lady, etc...painted rocks for each station of the cross and the rosary etc) and statuary...Thank you so much for promoting this idea!

I love this! You guys did great. I have a small altar on a shelf in my hallway. Across from that is a wall nook that had a crucifix, pictures of Jesus and Mary (Sacred & Immaculate Hearts), my Easter candle, and a small candle I light for prayers. I’m kind of expanding to another lower shelf in the hallway lol. Luckily enough my cat doesn’t jump onto these shelves! Also, I love the paper in the back of that shelf!! I actually want to make a cute small board that will hold all my saint cards for my altar.

Someone is usually home at our house and our two cats have gotten tired of being moved away from things, so they leave most things alone. However, my tabby is obsessed with our palms and tried climbing the wall to get them out from behind the Crucifix! I originally had them in a vase but every morning I was finding them strewn about the house. I have to watch fresh flowers too, because there is something about them that grabs her attention. I love your cat's name. ♡

Your Altars turned out great! I have a small home and currently have two Altars set up. One is located atop my bookshelf to all my prayer/devotional books. I have a very large Pieta statue, one of the Blessed Mother, as well as, two pillar candles. I’ve hung a large wall Crucifix directly above. I also utilize my kitchen window ledge space. Amongst my succulents, stands a small Crucifix and a tiny statue of Padre Pio. I, too, am looking for more spaces around my home to turn into small Altars. Have a blessed Sunday!

I have a little spare room that I made into a prayer room On the desk I made a home altar, I have a large Blessed Mother statue that my grandparents gave me on my communion, mind you I am 73 now,and it is in mint condition and has been with me most my life, I put a vase of flowers next to her and a candle, with a bottle of holy water, my parents rosary beads are on this altar they are both deceased, but I kept their rosaries, I also have a smaller statue of Our lady of Perpetual Help and a candle in front of her as well, and then I have a framed photo of my daughter and son in law In the mornings I get up early and sit on the desk chair and pray my chaplet to Our Lady of Perpetual help, and St Therese..I light the candles and bless myself with holy water I enjoyed this video I have a cat but she doesn’t bother my altar…I picked that spot because she never shows interest there
