God, Cataclysm is so peak. It's the only game I can think of that actually allows you to fulfill the zombie fantasy of not only surviving, but thriving. Dripping yourself out in military gear instead of the ragged hoodies every apocalypse protag always has on, using guns and melee equally, Warhammer 40k style, driving pimped-out vehicles, making self-sustaining bases and farms, and even mutating or turning into a cyborg just to shove your uncircumcized human cock down the end of the world's throat and prove how much better you are than everything else. *IT'S KINO, MR. JOESTAR!*

Instead of using the rudimentary lockpicks you should try crafting improvised lockpicks. They last longer and have a higher sucsses chance. And you'll need to get the lockpicking proficiency before you can easily pick locks.

Keep up the good work! Your other CDDA content got me to give the game a try and it’s currently what I play on my laptop when I’m away from home! Like PZ, watching you play teaches me things I wouldn’t even consider otherwise (the pipe mace served me well in my most recent run) & I’m really enjoying a CDDA series instead of a one shot like the other videos!

Think the lock picking was a proficiency situation. I'd say the prisoner studied books and has knowledge of lvl 4 yet had never and should simply keep trying. The master has got to go and necro should be killed away from corpses on death, raise dead can be problematic. An innawood start maybe with dinos would really fit your play style.

I swear I need to learn how to play CDDA, but I just can't get used to the controlls and moving through dozens of tabs to find info. Same reason I couldn't trully enjoy COGMIND, Caves of Qud (recommended btw) or the original Dwarf Fortress. ;-; Any tips appreciated.

Devices is used to make a lock pick. Lock picking itself is a skill much like Parkour.

If you're not too interested in the hyper realistic mechanics and somewhat grindy/bothersome things such as pockets size or having to get practical experience for every skill you learn; I recommend you give Cataclysm: Bright Nights a try, it is a fork of the game which is a little more arcade'y and convenient.

I've been watching your channel long enough to know you're very into shorter challenges with predetermined end goals, so I'm not gonna fault you if you keep sticking to that, especially since it's not really the game most of your audience are here to watch. If you ever find yourself in the mood, though, I'd be absolutely down to watch a longer series where you take yourself from seemingly hopeless beginnings all the way to endgame content (or at least as far as you can get before dying horribly). CDDA is one of my all-time favourite games, and easily the one I'd pick if I were to be stranded on a desert island with only one game to play. There's so much content, even before getting into mods, that it takes an incredibly long time for a run to hit the point where there's nothing interesting left to do.

Haven't caught up with the latest episode yet, if you need more/better water containers, you can make a plank/stick in to a digging stick, dig up some clay from near the kennels, make some clay pots, and yeah threres a workshop on the island, its the barred door on the right around 15:43 if i recall correctly

There's a few different effects, depending on just how unhappy you are. CDDA's experience system is based on morale; if your morale is above baseline, you learn skills more quickly. Once your morale dips below baseline, you become too depressed to craft. And if it goes especially low, you start getting penalties to your stats.

It's really bad; it lowers your focus which has the effect of making all crafting and manual labor super slow, cuts your learning and experience gain multiplier by a lot and will cause your character to refuse to do crafting and butchery if you become depressed.
