I totally agree with Jenn. If the clients happy then that’s what matters. You know me I’m a bit worn round the edges so furniture that fits into that makes me feel comfy so I love the shabby worn in look 😍😂

You are too funny. This set turned out great I still love rustic worn and chippy looks. The older and worn out to me the better… I’m glad you like your surprises. I use that little sander way more than I thought I would. I haven’t tried the contour pieces yet. Let me know how you like them. Such a pretty finish!! My mind was spinning with this video with thoughts during this. First, don’t play poker. You are just like my daughter! Everything shows on your face!😂😂 Second, I don’t like chemical strippers either. I always make such a mess, no matter how hard I try to be neat. Third, I noticed the legs right away and love how you finished them. Fourth, I don’t believe anything goes out of style if you like it! If it makes you happy in your home, who cares if someone somewhere thinks it is so last year! My house is a mix of everything and to me it works because I like all the pieces. It’s amazing to see progression of furniture and designs over the years!! I do like shabby chic but that has changed over the years. 1980’s for example were colors white & blue with ducks then 1990’s think it was chickens. I’m loving what ppl do with shabby chic now. Now, it’s (in my humble opinion) gone from the white to the greens and blues with distressing and rustiness. I Love it all tho & the piece kinda dictates what will be!! If a Hoosier cabinet from 40’s to 50’s -doesn’t have to be the white and red any more. Pale green with black “enamel” look is great too. Or even a blue

I love watching your videos! You make me laugh every time! I wanted to share with you that you can use an electric kitchen carving knife to cut the foam for upholstery. Cuts clean and very quick and your hand won’t hurt from the scissors. Hope you try it.

hi Sarah…Farmhouse will never go completely away…I think the stark white interiors are fading…guess that’s modern farmhouse…it won’t for me because I live in a farmhouse that was originally built in 1847! It has been totally redone due to a fire that happened 10 years before I moved in 1988…it was gutted by fire but when rebuilt front and side walls still standing double course of brick and basement, side porch back porch (brick floors with knee wall) 5 fireplaces, really old huge trees, huge dairy barn built in 1903 , stables (we have two horses), carriage house,milk house, 5 car garage (1/2 my shop the other hubby’s), 2 story tack room, etc etc and we have been here 25 years! When they rebuilt the house they used 1980’s look…we have gone room by room restoring with mix of old and new which I love…only two rooms left…they left high ceilings and deep window sills…we have uncovered brick walls in 3 rooms…but we have modern heat/ac drywall instead of plaster and basically all new windows and doors….we have done a lot of work to this place but we still have lots of chippy paint in outbuildings and I am so happy we made the leap to do it! so sorry for long answer…just wanted to tell you about it…your friend will surely be happy with her updated chippy vanity…think you are awesome…thank you for sharing 😊kim

This is a piece my hairdresser has and I’ve told her she can’t get rid of it without asking me first I’ve tried to recreate it (with vasoline, cause that’s what I found on the internet 😂) with no luck It’s kinda similar to your makeover in this video but then no so much lol I’d love to see if you have better luck with this “chippy” look While I’m writing this though I’m thinking that sealing the black and then distressing the red might be the way to go

I am never excited about having to take off old paint. I also avoid stripper because it’s a mucky mess and expensive. The scraper, heat gun and sander are my choices though latex can change whether it’s possible.
