Looking through the comments everyone is just blasting their negative opinions on your photo.. like clearly your teaching, how to use the tools. I really like this, it helps learn the tools, and the picture is cool too. It’s about what you like and in doing that you really schooled viewers on how to utilize the editing tools.

I really dig the tutorial! :) I think the yellow of the sky is a bit too much though, @ 9:30 if you kept it as that and added contrast it would've suited the picture better I feel. Anyways just giving my 2 cents lol

It's fun to watch another person's technique on how I'd do something. Obviously, your videos are very well done and concise! I would have mentioned the Quick Selection Tool and the Refine Edges for the mask, (for people without stylus/tablets) but like you said there's no one way to execute a similar effect. :) Keep the videos coming, I enjoy watching them when I can!
@robnelsonfilms8 жыл бұрын
Nice - I think I should discuss masking a bit more in the future. I'll have to do a bit of research on that one first though. Thanks Neil. Hope Spain is AWESOME!

Hi Rob. I've enjoyed your tutorials, they've been a great inspiration and refresher many times. I'm wondering if you can help my grade 6/7 class with finding introductory free software for photo and video editing. I've looked online but it's challenging to find the right software that help them learn skills and grow with in the future. If you have any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning on using a few of your tutorials to aid in teaching them how to make awesome pictures and to make a mini science documentary.
@robnelsonfilms8 жыл бұрын
Well, it does depend a bit on what they are doing. GoPro has free editing software. It's not bad. iMovie also works great! The next step up really is Final Cut Pro X - it's only 300 dollars. I think you can install it on up to 5 computers. That's not bad. To be honest, I'm not sure about photo editing software that's free but Adobe had a subscription service now. You could get lightroom and photoshop on a handful of computers for 10 bucks a month. Hope that helped. :)

Hey Rob! Love your channel. I have a GoPro which I use to get footage of my clients in the our fitness facility. I used your idea to film with photos taken every 5 seconds but the problem was that the majority of photos taken couldn't be used because they were all "fuzzy" because I was walking with the GoPro as the photos were being taken. I was hoping to get at least some photos that were a sharp as the photo used in your example. With your photo was there any dampers put underneath the mount in order to achieve that sharp photo? I'm at a loss. I was using one of those selfie stick type mounts. Excellent channel. Keep up the great work! Cheers Denis
@robnelsonfilms7 жыл бұрын
Nope. The key is that the sun was very bright and thus, the shutter speed on the gopro was very fast. When you're inside (guessing), it's almost impossible to get a shot that's not blurry, unless you craft it so that people are moving very little. Does that make sense?
@deniskrastic7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! That does make sense. Thanks for your quick response. I'll give that a go and see how I go.

Did you use time lapsing photo or time lapsing video? Which are better to use and which time? 0,5s, 1s or 2s? Because when I use the time lapsing photo, most of the photo become blurry.

What are some pros and cons of photoshop and lightroom for post-processing photos like these?

Lightroom is quicker and easier. Photoshop allows you to do more photo-manipulation - like removing artifacts, adding extra images, masking, etc.

@Haushinko8 жыл бұрын
You use native and flat color ?
@robnelsonfilms8 жыл бұрын
Having talked with GoPro extensively about this, I now shoot in GoPro color. The production staff at gopro have found that the gopro color setting does just about as good as you could ever reproduce with Flat coloring. Thus, if you're not a colorist, you're way better off shooting in GoPro color.
@Haushinko8 жыл бұрын
Because everybody says, take whith flat is better to post editting ! sorry for my bad english!!
@robnelsonfilms8 жыл бұрын
Well, that's easy to say. People love to say it's better to shoot flat. But, most of the time, I bet you'd have a really hard time recreating the standard gopro color... unless you're really good at coloring your video in post. Experiment though. Let me know what you find out! That's just my experience AND that advice comes straight from the gopro colorists.
