APA is the most annoying thing I've ever done, because each year it changes, and then sometimes teachers want obscure things like an "Abstract" or "Level Headings" and sometimes they don't, but they don't tell you what they want, and just say follow APA guidelines.
@JehRoniMo114 жыл бұрын

Some additional tips (from someone who *IS* grading these): 0:52 - As a professor, I greatly appreciate the disclaimer. For example, I know APA did away with the Times New Roman, 12-pt. requirement, but *I* still require it because otherwise, I get tons of hard to read fonts from students, which significantly slows down my grading! 5:30 - You should always change the font of your page number to match the font of your essay! 5:42 - Don't hit enter until you make it to the next full blank page; that invites trouble. Hold Control + Enter (PC) or Shift + Enter (Mac) to insert a page break instead any time you're trying to get to the first line of the next page. That way you are always on that top line, no matter how much you change before it. I recommend using this page break when you begin typing the body of the paper also, so you set up the last page as your References page, and then, no matter how much you add in the body, the References always start on the first line of that last page, as they should--and you can add each new reference as you use it within the paper, so you make sure not to leave any out. 8:50 - To create a hanging indent format, first type everything out normally, all aligned flush left, then highlight just those references, and on a PC, go to the Paragraph menu on the ribbon, Choose "Line Spacing Options," and under "Special," choose "Hanging" (about midway down on the right). On a Mac, go to the same place where you selected double spacing (seen at 2:13 in this video), choose "Line Spacing Options," then look for "Special" and choose "Hanging" (again, about midway down on the right--you can see the "Special" at about 2:25 in this video) Also in the References, if including a link, try to fit as much of the link as possible on the same line, but DON'T HIT ENTER while in the link. AFTER you set it up for hanging indent, go to a link and eyeball how much space you have left on a line, then put a space in the link at about that much space, which should move that much of the link up to the previous line. Be sure to remove all hyperlinks from everywhere within the paper. 11:20 - a 10-year-old would be hyphenated in both places, but someone who is 10 years old would not.

Hey dears. From my experience, if you want to write effectively and fast, make sure that you eliminate all potential distractions. Make yourself comfortable and switch off your phone or put it in “do not disturb” mode. If you prefer working in silence, consider visiting the library. On the other hand, if you like background noise, turn on some fast music or try working in a cafe. But do you know what works even better? Getting a good essay writer to help you. I work with Mary, and I assure you, she is the best writer I’ve come across, and she’s super kind. (m a r y j o y k i m m y @ g m a i l . c o m) - without the spaces, of course.

OMG! Why did you just answer all my question in 11 minutes, rather my professor posted an hour lecture on it, and I was still confused on how to do it. thank you so much for your video and not wasting my time. Now.....back to my research paper.

MLA, Chicago/Turabian are the worst. Then again, as a Psych student I had to learn APA in the 1st year. Keeping up with changes like this is a pain, but at least I don't have to bother with the other formats anymore. Best of luck to you in your studies.

THANK YOU! My professor in my graduate class marked me off 10% on a paper for the running head "not following APA format"....she apparently was unaware of the update stating student papers do not need them!!! WIN!

Do you know a student who doesn't lack sleep? It's amazing how exhaustion is perceived as something normal when you're a student. You don't sleep for days because the exams are approaching and you have a huge essay marked with red on your schedule. That's normal; you're a student after all. Wait! No; it's not normal! If you're a student, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a life, does it? I have a way out for those who are fed up with exhaustion - contact Sarah Lorde’s H/W Help (s a r a h l o r d e m e @ g m a i l . c o m) - without the spaces, of course. Sarah is very kind, and she is extremely talented in writing academic papers.
