To get the material on multiple objects I normally select all of them and then selecting an object with the prefered material and then Control L and choose material. Atleast thats what I am doing quite frequently. But who knows, I am quite a beginner so yea...

Great video! Additionally, if you don't want to bother with split screen there's a "lock camera to view" in the right side panel / view tab. That way you directly control what the camera sees. Shortcut to snap the camera to the actual view is ctrl+alt+num0 I think. You can find the good view in your viewport, snap the camera to it, then with the shortcut, and adjust after you enabled camera lock to view here: i.imgur.com/DKSYjFs.png . Instead of dividing the resolution to /2, you can set the percentage to 50% instead of 100. Same effect, quicker. You can also use ~300 rendering quality and in the compositing tab you can add a "denoise" node (I guess you used the menu version of that node). Defaults should be good enough to compensate for the noise with Cycles with low samples, but sometimes there's no substitute for a good high sample render :-) . What I like to add to low poly renders is a Freestyle. That creates a black line art around the edges. I usually use 0.2 thickness. It's an interesting effect, not always fitting, but sometimes it just give the extra contrast the image needs.
