49:58 ! why can't you just add that to your spaceship, invert the bump and BOOM - sci fi details done! man, where can I find textures like that? That bump node worked a charm.
@skilllanoodle
@skilllanoodle Жыл бұрын
you can find those textures through a piece of software called Jsplacement, found here: archive.org/details/jsplacement-1.3.0-allplatforms_202108 and the grungier textures/building textures at Textures.com (you get 15 free credits a day so you have options without paying) While I could and have used some textures like these on spaceships, I find that a smaller object needs a more explicable design theory, I want to control where the lines and little details are. While a larger building with this sort of grungey scifi feel is much more about the chaos and level of details, rather than an extensive look into every little detail. Hope this helps!

@skilllanoodle I dl it. I made a death star. Kind of. Hehe. That pgm is cool. Shame he closed his website. But I totally understand. I am bas8cally done with my yt channel. Constant harrassment gets old and yt nor Google will do nothing about it. Oh well.

hexidecimal is just base 16. Is a way to represent large #s without having to type 20381003599323153 We use base 10, computers use base 2 at their core, hex is base 16. 0 through 9 then A to F. Then once it reaches F it rolls over just like once we reach 9 in a column, we put a 0 back and add one to the left. Same for hex. Once you reach F, you can't go higher so you set that to 0 and add one to the left. It just gives you a way to store 15 in one column instead of just 9. Since it's not a "code", but an actual number, of course it will work with any software that allows a hexidecimal number to be entered. I don't know if Blender accepts those into all it's property fields but if it allows "tau", you'd have to think the coders were clever enough to allow hexidecimal too but maybe not. ? Where do you find that jsplacement texture(s)? Do you have to d/l jsplacement addon to get them? thx for the tuts!

I'm not much of a programmer so I wouldn't know if Blender supports a hexidecimal capabilities but I do know it uses a Python coding language. In my use case of Blender, I usually can roughly estimate things and use tools for an artistic advantage. Most advanced math systems are found more in CAD, which requires different software from Blender. As for the Jsplacement software here: archive.org/details/jsplacement-1.3.0-allplatforms_202108 It' s a separate software from Blender that you export PNG textures from.

@@skilllanoodle python is a scripting language. Pretty sure it isn't compiled into an exe but it just runs in real time when it's needed. Yeah, I know a bit about computers but I dont care that much to get into too much math. I prefer to try and just create but then... you gotta do some math sometimes. Like ... circles. degrees etc. I will check into this link and thanks again for the tuts!!!

Hi there! I really like your content! It is very helpful and I makes me super motivated to start messing around with Blender again! Thanks for that! Just a tip, if you plan on making more tutorials like this (which I hope you do) enable the addon called Screencast keys (if you don't have it already, you can get it for free)! It is helpful for those of us seeing the video and that way you don't have to worry so much about telling us all the keys all the time! ;) other than that everything was perfect! Just subscribed! :D

Cool tutorial, wll try some of this out!. Whats the difference between adding a solidify modifier to a plane, versus just extruding out one of the faces to create some thickness?
@skilllanoodle
@skilllanoodle 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video and I'm glad you enjoyed! To answer your question, extruding is a destructive method, meaning we can't tweak it as easily afterwards. Modifiers come in handy because they allow for non destructive changes to a mesh (i.e we can tweak or remove our modifications whenever we'd like until applied) Hope that helps!

Think you can make a tutorial on how you select faces so easily with hot keys and do quick movements with such objects along with making your items have depth, i forget what its technicially called but like how you sent the face of some of the outsides inward a little?
