This tutorial has saved time and time again. I usually save as a png and paste the gobo onto word and print on high setting and depending on the transparency film, I usually use glossy and it prints great. Also on photoshop I click on sharp so the letters look neater

I use Adobe Illustrator to print my gobos. I use a HP Photosmart Inkjet Printer. I set the printer for transparency settings. I usually print 6 gobos at once at a minimum, in the event that one gets scratched while cutting it out. Here's the real trick when printing to get the gobo darker. PRINT IT TWICE on the same transparency paper. After you print it the first time let it dry. Then reprint it again on the same sheet of paper. You will find the gobo will standout better. Also if your fonts are thin make them bold. They will standout better. The thicker the font the better the gobo will show during the event. The paper I use is made by 3M CG6000. I purchased it at office max. I have created a multicolored gobo for this effect for my brothers wedding. He is an avid St Louis Cardinals Fan. I took their logo and put our last name in the cardinal font. Turned out great. Remember THICK LINES AND A THICK FONT are your friend. Illustrator is better for drawing and modifying type vs Photoshop. Good luck Gentlemen.

@skiing54 print two copies and overlay the two of them together. Put some tape on the edges to hold them together. Viola!

Rob, I run into problems when i go to print on my transparencies and i end up with light leakage in the black areas of the gobo. I have tried increasing the ink output but that didn't help. Any suggestions? Could you do a video on what printer and what settings you use? Thanks! Brian

I find that MS Paint pixelizes the image even if you don't change the image with the paint program. There is a free picture viewing program called Irfan View. Google search it. When you're installing it, make sure to uncheck the boxes of stuff you don't want to install. Then open your image in Irfan View and print away.

Greetings........ i been doing gobos for my Dj company too anmd is really cool, Thanks to your videos of course......!!!! but...... Gobos with fat world are so easy, letters with thin lines are so difficult to make the gobo look perfect, to align it with the second make 2 or 3 times some times, or is because is in that way? or is because my Copier is not set up well? Is a Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277.

The part that I am confused about is I've seen Goboes printed out on transparency film but the letters are see-through on your videos the letters are white is the light going to shine through that to project only the letters and not the circle being black?
