You always make it look easy. Since I am just starting with xlights, I need all the basic and simple things to start. Keep doing basic xlights for us. Most of the videos I watch on xlights are too detail and move too fast through the explanations. Remember there are a lot of us just starting out.

Trevi, I am researching RF bracelets to use with a DMX controller. The DMX512 controller from company GFLAI (item GFC005) that a lot of USA hobby groups use is 5CH from the factory but can be reprogrammed/flashed to 17CH or 40CH. The company site says the RF bracelets need to be programmed as Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, etc. for different color groups at the factory. The GFC005 controller DMX512 Datasheet for 5CH Version shows that it accepts up to 84 groups: CH 1 is ID Code, CH 2 is group control--up to 84 groups, CH 3 Red, CH 4 Green, CH 5 Blue. I am wondering if through xLights there is a way to set the groups on CH 2 with the bracelets, regardless of what "Zone"/group they were programmed at the factory. It may be that the xLights "groups" option is for more advanced Pixel lights and that the RF bracelets are just not that advanced. (It sounds like the 40CH version is just more complicated to set up in xLights for a beginner like me. I am researching using the RF bracelets for a middle school show choir event in April.) Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hello Trevi. All my icicle lights work properly, but when I put them into a group, half of them work and the others don’t. Why does this happen?
@trevilights Жыл бұрын
Thats odd. Try double clicking on the group in the sequence and add individual effects to each icicle and see if they work ok. Have you try other effects at rhe group level. Maybe put them all in one color just to check that is not any settings of the effect that you chose.

How do I make a group out of house outlines? I want to make a group of verticals and horizontals from some house outlines but when I select the model, I don't see the specific lines that make up that outline.
@trevilights3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I am not sure if I understand your issue, but this is what you can do to create and group house outlines. In the Layout view either select a simple line or use the Poly Line option. Using the line option is simple. If using the Poly Line just click on every corner of the house outline you want to cover; click escape when done. A house outline is nothing else than a string of lights. Depending on what type of pixels and how your are mounting them, determine how many lights per feet it's going to take, That's how many pixels that particular line or poly line its going to have. Once done, in the Model section just select the ones you want to group, right click on them and create a group out of them. That's it.

@@trevilights hi thanks. My outlines on the house are already there. So for example I have a square outline called outside bordering now whay I would like to do is take just the vertical and horizontal line of that model and make a group called verticals and another called horizontals without having to recreate the whole model again if possible.

@@ducebigalow8834 If all you want to do is a copy, then just select the model and do a Ctrl+C and then a Ctrl+V. Relocate the pasted ones and create new groups of them.

Can props be in multiple groups?
@trevilights3 жыл бұрын
Yes they can. And in the layer blending setting you can define how effect 1 and effect 2 with be mixed together.
