Thanks so much for the brilliant videos but I do have a question: why use the terminal to create a user and not do it using the GUI, which is much faster and easier?

Thank you John! As far as creating users -- for cert exams, it's always the commandline way to create that is tested. And while the GUI is easier, it only works on computers that have a GUI installed. Most Linux work tends to be on servers that don't have a GUI at all. (I use a GUI for my videos, because it's easier to see and resize -- but most of the time when I actually work on Linux computers, it's via SSH in a terminal window)

I recommend a virtual machine. Something like virtualbox is free to download if your computer can run it. Otherwise, I’d recommend checking out Oracle Cloud. They have a free tier that allows you to get a Linux machine running. (I’ll make a video on it soon!)

Hey Shawn when I try to use ssh localhost it says connection refused is that cause I'm using Linux through a virtual box ?

Mostly likely means you don't have an ssh server installed on your VM. Something like "sudo apt install openssh-server" will probably fix that. :)
