literally, this was how I DM'd for a "Dungeons and Dragons" game. Me and my friends never played DND before, I've never even read any of the rulebooks. All I knew was a handful of staple monsters and a loose grasp of how the game actually worked. So I made my own super loose game logic and basically told my friends "You can do whatever you want, so long as you can roll it." It may have been the most far-off thing from DND but it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had, it might help that I am pretty creative, do video game design, and have a plethora of monsters I've made at my disposal but who knows.

That happened for my first ever game of 5e :) i wanted to play as smough from dark souls 1, and we went through the entire character creation provess until we arrived at weight. I rolled max on it and we messed up the multiplier so i think he got... several tons? Every "streneous" action i took had a 1/20 chance to cause an earthquake, and then i rolled to see how bad it was on the rivhter scale (d10). First ever encounter and i ended up burying the town we were heading to in a category 8 earthquake. After that i ended up straight up creating the grand canyon after my character stumbled down a hill. Good game, but we only played one session.

@@nathanex5122 Yeah, just imagining a venom-wad slapping into someone and then turning into a sticky foam. Sounds lethal, even without the movement-snare effect. 5:00 I love the idea of spell books being unique things. I'm picturing beginning characters having a mass produced basic spellbook, or a family spellbook that's been added to for generations, and on their adventures they might acquire a more advanced spellbook from another mage for completing a quest, or they might find an ancient book of spells deep within a dungeon. Scrolls in DnD are kind of like that, but the way you put it is so much more personal and now I really want to figure out how to incorporate that idea into DnD.

If you've never heard of City of Mist I definitely recommend you go check out Runesmith's video on it. It a very cinematic, rules lite system that doesn't require minis or anything although I think it still needs dice (sorry I'm not completely sure). I've never played it myself and I don't really know too much about it but it sounds like it could be useful for you! Love your idea btw! The simplest rule to circumvent lots of dice roles and calculating I ever saw was a card result system. Simplest Form is just 'success/failure' and then it all depends on the players description of the action and how sensical and believable it is for their character. You an scale that up with more variations instead of failure and success and to not have to make cards, you could just make a list with a die table. Also the most engaging and immersive, since it's just roleplay after roleplay, even in normally rule heavy situations. Also there is a whole category of 1 rule page pen and paper games, but I bet you saw then when getting books.

Interesting, I'll have to experiment with that. I've seen a couple of 1 page games in my hunt yes, I might dig a bit more now though.

@@Miscast sadly I can't give you a name, I only heard it being described, but never found out from what game, but I believe diceless or dice light games are a niche of their own

I remember trying to make a tabletop game. It was supposed to be all Hard Sci-Fi (Where all the Tech needed to have either a Real-life counterpart or otherwise have solid & consistent rules) and extremely homebrew friendly. I might still make it eventually, but for now it's a bunch of loose ideas I have to wrangle.

I am such a nerd for the Warhammer Fantasy world that I just play their RPG (with some modifications). But I really liked your monster-creation. Of that I want to see more.

Been running Runehammer's ICRPG all year. I recommend it to anyone looking for something simple to run and easy to hack. Also, keep going on that nurgle army! Gotta make it to at least 7 videos to call it complete

Wicked! Yeah great book, I've stolen a lot from it for my D&D sessions. Nurgle army is still happening, probably the next video you'll see a build :)

You should have a growing weapon A rusty sword that grows as you do and you can upgrade withenchanments that can be temporary or last for the rest of the game Ex: You find a bow with a rather strange engraving in a language nobody can understand because it is older than language itself. You pick it up and you realize that it’s magic c ue the player being able to choose from a set of abilities near his/her level like after you fire an arrow your next arrow can be twice as powerful but will give you blank amount of damage or it’s just fire not the arrows but the bow and later on you can craft or find certain gems or stones with the same engraving as was on the bow. These stones or gems or scrolls or whatever you choose can upgrade the bows stats by just giving it better flat damage and maybe giving the arrows poison or something like Ichor from terraria but also allowing the player to choose a new ability that can stack with the old or something that can be completely new maybe the new bow will turn you into a wolf rabbit hybrid for 3 turns after you fire 3 arrows. Sorry for my bad English and hopefully you take some of my ideas and add them into your amazing game that I can’t wait to buy once it’s completed.

I couldn't find your game pdf... So I got a copy of knave and hacked it up as you video shared... Only using my instincts. I love what you inspired here

Neat! Good luck man. I’m also currently in the process of creating my own RPG system in which all of the players are sorcerers. A system that is primarily built around magic.
