I raised 8 children (my own) and have 11 grandbabies. I've always been inspired by Mary Poppins and I've wanted a carpet bag... Probably for the last 30 years! Now that I'm 52 I travel by train visiting my grand "biscuits" and doubly want one! I look online but we'll you know, Price and or condition especially for originals. You may someday find yourself doing this project again in the future because you can do it better the second time. Just a tip...look for a 1960's Singer sewing machine. Since they are all metal they are heavy duty 100 times more so than the current "heavy duty" machine. The bag looks incredible.
