Chris, you’re the most talented KZbinr and tech reviewer I’ve ever known. You’ve outperformed Peter McKinnon a hundred times over with your knowledge, and I’m amazed at why you have so few subscribers. Your content is fantastic, I’ve been watching you for a long time, and I’m thrilled to be connected with you through KZbin.

Great video Chris!!!! And... I've done the same now in my new and only 9 square meters studio (3,5X3,5m). My setup was, for a long time, a C-Stand with three cameras mounted with either clamps or magic arms (doing guitar playing videos with one headshot and two camera angles for my hands) and the lighting was on it's own stand(s). The advantage was a portable setup but the three C-stand legs spread took a lot of space in this little room and changing the positions of the cameras when needed took a lot of tinkering, switching to other magic arms, holders, clamps.. all while the hdmi cables were hanging out of those mini hdmi ports. My setup is "from cameras to the computer using Ecamm Live" so I never record on SD cards. This is great for livestreaming and client sessions when I teach, and I can record in 4K. But after I saw this video it struck me that, even if the table would take up more space, I'd maybe be getting more stable system, the varipols and that crossbar are in my case a Neewer "all in one" setup - a frame that attaches to the desk itself and a horisontal crossbar. Off to experimenting!!

That ONE CABLE I swear I can tell you’re super proud of that. The emphasis was strong but real question, why do us men lose our mind over cable management hahaha. Awesome setup bro!

I am all about efficiency and removing the barriers to creating videos/photos. This setup makes perfect sense and I suspect that because it is new to you, there is a small amount of excitement in being in the space and therefore more potential for creative work.

Pretty nice setup, especially in a limited space! One thought I had is what if you only used one heavy-duty crossbar, fixed higher across the room. This way you wouldn't need the two poles. Just a food for thought :)
@PaulFeinberg
@PaulFeinberg 3 ай бұрын
I am going to use 1 varipole from wall to wall and do this on one pole over the top. We will see how it goes. However, for Chris he has the monitor mounts and all on the side varipoles so he kind of needs those on the sides anyways.

That was my original plan but the room width is just under 5 metres and they don’t make anything quite that long unfortunately

I love all these gear videos… but the one gear video I want to see you make: what’s the POV camera you use sometimes? Seems like a GoPro or something similar you strap to your chest? Would be very interested for a video on that!

@@chrisbrockhurst the only thing I don't see is links to the Nato Rail top down setup. Looks like you have two arms for the mics with some sort of Nato Rail attachment and then some nato rail plate on the bottom of the camera.

I was able to figure it out……I am going to do a detailed video on my full setup using a single Varipole going from wall to wall. I did it slightly different than Chris did because Chris used a $19 handle to mount addition support with those poles…I just attached additional support right to the back of the 12” carbon fiber 15mm rails with those Ulanzi super clamps and it is very sturdy. I have been happy with it. I have more things on order tonight to continue to refine the setup.

Do you feel that the amaran tube light is a bit harsh light to be pointed directly at the table for top down shots? Or do you angle it and use m ore of the natural light that comes through the windows in conjunction?
