Gustavo's score is such a strong part of the identity of these games and the show. Warm, intimate, tragic, painful and, in rare moments, hopeful. Masters like him know how to say so much with very little. The first few notes of the main theme resonate in me the way Joel's pain resonates within him.

@@flundergarden that reminded about this one Easter egg from God of War: Ragnörok, where there's a moment from the dwarves' village where we see the game's composer, Bear McCreary, as a dwarf playing some sort of instrument. And you get to interact with him

A lot of the TLOU visual identity comes from Gustavo’s delicate soundtrack in contrast with the ruined landscapes. Beautiful stuff.

Getting Gustavo to score the game in 2013 was easily one of the most important and influential hires for how the final product would turn out. ND was very lucky he was interested in the project, and at the same time, it seems like TLOU game gave Gustavo a ton of artistic freedom to try whatever he wanted. It was definitely a mutually beneficial working relationship

Its fitting that they closed this special with the last moment of the show, witch is exactly the same and has that same score in both versions, because it really shows how important the music is in moments like that. That guitar intro that fills the space between those final lines between Joel and Ellie feels so heartbreaking to me. It elevates an already incredibile moment in a way that brings me to tears time and time again. Without, that scene would just feel incomplete.

Without Gustavo's art The Last Of Us would not be The Last Of Us. The way in which each sound, each element is connected to what is happening in this apocalyptic world really makes you feel as if you were living it yourself, it makes you connect deeply with the emotions of the characters. That scene in which Ellie is with Joel and she asks him if everything that had happened with the fireflies in that hospital was true and Joel confidently answers that it was, and then you sees in Ellie's eyes how she loses the confidence she had she had until now with Joel, she knew that everything was a lie and she accepted it but what hurt her the most was seeing how Joel did not trust her in telling the true. Those sounds in that particular scene are spectacular, like in the whole game and in the series. Gustavo's work is magnificent and I am proud that this man is from my country Argentina, that he has used instruments and sounds from my country to do this wonderful work. Congratulations Naughty Dog you made the right choice. Can't wait to see more of TLOU!

I’m so glad they brought him on to score the show. The music is such a powerful and memorable element of the game. Having him score the show made it even clearer how iconic and intrinsic it is to this story. I hope other game adaptations will learn this too instead of how most of them replace soundtracks with something generic. I can’t help but feel a big element of these games are lost when the music is ignored.
