So I do a crazy thing with my side splits. I wake the waist about a quarter inch smaller than my current size & just have button holes on both sides for a tie together detail.

I made a few skirts in the early 80s that had the same opening as your skirt. I nicknamed it hatch front even though it was only 1 side not both. haven't used the concept since

@@LatelyFashionable initially I picked that pattern as i was avoiding zips, until entering a sewing comp made me practise and practise inserting zips into taffeta. I've kept the concept in my brain just in case I want to use it again. I
