Once you adapt to the workflow and the interface, Halion is a monster. It's a real instrument and requires time and dedication to master. I often create sounds with my Waldorf Iridium and sample them into Halion. It's quite a combination.

Halion, it is the best or one of the best instrument. But the UI, the user interface must redesign. I edited it because I would like to give an example. my example is the user interface of Arturia Pigments 2.

@Law of Perspective I agree with you. Hopefully, Steinberg listens to us. so I gave an example Arturia Pigment it is very easy to use but not powerful like Halion 6.

I think Halion is special. It isn't as easy to use as Serum, Pigments 2, and others, but considering the mind-numbing amount of functionality, I think they did a good job. That said, I hope Halion 7 focuses heavily on community requested quality-of-life improvements. My eyes are begging for HiDPI support.

Granular synthesis was already in Absynth in 2000. Acquired by Native Instruments in 2001. So yeah, if you're a veteran Komplete user, you know granular is awesome. Seriously old news.

I don't get it... Sometimes Dom would trigger and the whole "Up to you" phrase would come... But sometimes only a part of it. What caused this?

Are you talking about the "Legato" mode? If so, in that mode, when u press a key then press another key (a couple notes down or up) it continues from where the 1st key left off. Basically the 2nd key doesn't start from the beginning. So u could have "Up" in the key of A, "To" in the key of C and the "You" in another key. It's like chopping the sample up but without chopping it up lol.

...Dom pls explain how to save the instrument to a usb disk or else...i find halion 6 extremely difficult to use comparing to other samplers..so many features but so complicated to use....instead of making music i should spend a week watching youtube videos to learn some things that i could do in logic x 10.5 sampler for 2 minutes...regards, i like your videos a lot!

Midi does not contain audio. So you can not do audio manipulation on midi data. No sampler/synth can do that. But I have a feeling you might mean something different. I recommend to learn about difference between audio and midi data. Also note that preset data is not audio and not midi data, even though preset data can be stored in midi data. Once you understood, ask your question again with more precision. Without, no one might be able to answer you precisely.

I have both. Falcon has the better effects, better filters, better timestreching (IRCAM), crisper envelope attack, FM module, physical modeling, pluck OSC, additive OSC, a synth drum OSC and all updates have been free so far. But the handling is a bit more fiddly, no VST 3, no multicore support, no full undo support and a very small library, mainly synthsounds. HALion is better in handling, has the better Granular OSC, the better Wavetable OSC, a Library maker, Arpeggiator MIDI Out, VST 3, Multicore support, a huge Factory library.

I'm liking Backbone more. Hopefully, Halion 7 gets a huge overhaul (espececially module layout). I really do not like using it, but respect its capabilities.

Love the videos but can someone please make a video on how to export our instruments as VSTs. It's been 2-3 years since Halion was released and there is still no videos on how to export our instruments as compatible VSTs for Halion Sonic SE. All Steinberg has published is a diagram telling you if your instrument doesn't work in Halion Sonic SE, is go back to Halion 6 and fix it. 🙃

When I add the second program and mute the first, then load INIT on the second program, I have no sound ... Why? Playing the second program after loading INIT, I can see that the first program is active but it is not audible because it is muted. Please help! :)

Halion 6 is a very powerful instrument but the interface leaves much to be desired. I also wish they would add FM and additive synth engines. Then it could compete with Falcon.
