Beautiful as usual. Your comments about what affects the color of the wood is right on. The type of lighting is also important. I made some kitchen cabinets (red oak) for a customer and they all matched perfectly. After installation I took a picture of them. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the color of the door panels. There were three panels glued up for the width. The center panel was light compared to the outer two. In natural light you couldn't see a difference.

Love these tables. Simplicity is all defining. This lends extra appreciation of the timber and resin work that you guys are sooo good at. Again because of the minimalist design, your attention is drawn to all aspects. The tops are beautiful, so the legs must be too, the welds need to be perfect. Do you guys put leveling feet under these frames to take up any discrepancy in the flooring? As always an excellent job, thanks for sharing. Cheers Michael.

I really like how both tales came out. The blue is a color of its own. Does Black Forest make cutting boards? I would think your business could corner the market on that. I would also like to see some more of your father's building a guitar classes. Since you are working on one side of the shop, what are they building on the other side? Lastly, does your company ever build vanities or anything like for the bathroom or beds? Thanks again for posting. Looking forward to the next video.

I remember the video of the credenza and table (artwork as always). Dylan you have been talking about the new CNC machine that I wonder if it is really happening - LOL. Your clients are very lucky receiving a BFWC piece of artwork. A question - are you ever going to do coasters again? Stay safe.

I noticed around 6:37 that the guy using the mirka sander is moving really fast with it. Is it the mirka sander that allows him to move so quickly without developing pigtails? I've always had to move way slower to have good quality sanding. Thanks!

@BlackForestWoodCo

We do, but we've never faced that problem because our building is insulated. But all that happens when it's too cold is it won't cure, but it won't wreck anything

When you do your "resin recipes" do you do it by ratio or by weight? I mean the different materials (resin, liquid pigments, and powder pigments) are measured differently (gallons, drop, teaspoon)? Awesome video and I love the breakdown and random information.
@BlackForestWoodCo
@BlackForestWoodCo 25 күн бұрын
Thanks so much Richard! We do a 2:1 ratio of hardener and resin for the Deep Resin. For the pigments we measure them out with measuring spoons, and for the dye we just count the drops we put into each bucket.

Is there a reason you're not using a sandblaster to remove the bark? It seems like that would be way faster but you seem like the type of shop that knows how to optimise such processes, so I'm interested in your reasoning.
@bradthomas8711
@bradthomas8711 20 күн бұрын
We have sand blasted burls before but the relatively regular edge on these slabs are easy to clean up.

@BlackForestWoodCo

10:37 Hate to say it but the welds on the metal bases really let down the high standard you guys hold yourselves to with the tops and wooden bases. You should find someone who can TIG weld bases for you or at least grind their welds smooth!

You guys are missing that the price difference in wood to epoxy is substantial. Epoxy is a lot more expensive than wood. And I personally thing a live edge table looks a lot better than an all epoxy table. Plus why would anyone want an all epoxy table. I don’t think anyone would want one in a real life scenario. Or atleast not enough to build a buisness around
@augustwest8559
@augustwest8559 24 күн бұрын
@spekkspekk6036 All the epoxy River tables or anything close are blasphemy too real woodworker that knows wood. These guys are definitely making money on a current trend or fad. None of those work will live long into the future. I see good wood being wasted.
@BlackForestWoodCo
@BlackForestWoodCo 22 күн бұрын
@@augustwest8559 Most of the wood we use to make resin tables would be unusable without resin because they're rotted pieces with holes in them so resin is actually letting us give new life to wood that would have just been thrown out
