Excellant information!!! Thank you for sharing! According to a permaculture expert/teacher, biochar may last as long as 500 years. Biochar is the homes for the microorganisms. Normally, we don't have to change the biochar. It works better as the microbs develop their networks.

Terra preta de indio from the Amazon's much older than 500 years. Thats according to archeological finds in the brasilian Amazonia.

From Portugal, Algarve that some describe as suffering the worst drought in over 1000 years-(one thousand)! Also, higher temps. than we were accustomed to.
