Creating WEIRD Characters, MORE story, and REALISTIC voice acting for my indie game - Devlog #7

In this #devlog I go through my game design process for the past two weeks. I add a funny character, Melting Marshton, who is a super quirky NPC. He also serves as a way to get to the next level.
I also add cliche skeletal enemies in the graveyard area. It's not groundbreaking but it's a horror game- what do you expect?
I also spend some time fine tuning some of the mechanics to make the game run smoother as well as adding decorative particle effects to simulate fire.
As a solo indie game developer, progress is slow moving but I really appreciate your support by watching this video! Comment down below to let me know what you think!
I use Blender 3D, Krita 2D, and the Unity Engine to make the game.

Idk if you have ideas for the transition level but it should be like a cold narrow freezer vent that goes up and down so it will be like a warm up for the level.

Probably just seeing these things that I've been imagining and (poorly) sketching brought to life and being able to interact with them. I spent my whole life coming up with weird ideas for things (especially games) and now I finally have a way to bring that to life. That's gotta be my favorite part

This is great! Going to have to go back and watch the other episodes. Do you have any tips for texturing in Blender? You make it seem so effortless

Thanks! Really it's just about practicing and if it seems effortless, it's just because it's sped up. If I could recommend anything less vague than just practice, I guess I'd say look up videos that feature tips for texturing or even more in depth tutorials. Also, I use an art pad with a screen when I'm texturing in Blender which really does help a lot. So if you can afford even a low end one, it probably will help

I have no idea how you implement it in code, but just something that came to my mind, about the way you tell the story, don't make bits of story elements linked with a certain candy, but instead linked it, to the number of candy the player have, that way no matter the order of collecting something the story will always be incremental to the candy number.

I considered that actually but the story isn't told chronologically. It's meant to be about getting these dissonant pieces of information and trying to figure out what's happening
