Setting up the UPGRADE System and adding a SNEEZING CHONK enemy to my DREAM indie game - Devlog #16

In this #devlog I show my process of making menus, buttons, and general UI design. This goes from the concept art stage (quick sketches) to the fully fleshed out game mechanics and objects that are completely playable.
I also put a lot of emphasis on polish and game feel! There's a new tutorial enemy that's added as well!
I use Unity, Playmaker, and Blender 3D to make my indie game, called Toby's Topsy Tale which was funded on Kickstarter. It is a psychological horror 3D platformer with Lovecraftian elements (which means inspired in part by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Super Mario).
These dev logs are meant to serve as a way for me to track progression as I work towards my dream of being a solo indie game dev. Game design is hard but it's easier with such a great community! I'm hoping it won't be long before the game is ready to launch on Steam!
This is hopefully of interest to people who play games as well as those actively pursuing their indie game dev journey and those who have an interest in someday learning how to make games!
Keep up the motivation!

So far so good, I love seeing how far this project has come. One thing that I might suggest though is that if you could change Toby’s shadow so that it’s always facing the ground under his feet even while he’s jumping. Because an important tool for platforming is to have a drop shadow so the player can always know where they land after jumping, that way the player isn’t always forced to take leaps of faith when trying to estimate how far should they jump.

Hello, from Toronto, Canada. Found your video randomly. Thought I would reach out. Currently also working on my own indie mobile title. Saw you motivational video found it interesting, looking at your progress very impressive. Furthermore, I’m also working a full time job and trying to work on my game. Although I find it difficult, combining home life being a husband and father, with a full time job, and game dev. I can’t seem to find the time and motivation to continue. I was working strongly for more the 6 months on my game. Now I stumbled on a huge rock in the road and can seem to over come it. Wish you all the luck and hopefully i will find the motivation and time to continue with my project.
