As promised in my latest product review video I wanted to play with my new stencils and masks from P.M. Artist Studio, after some technical difficulties here the video finally is. I've edited the video down a little to remove some boring thinking time and also to try and get it as close to an hour as I can.

Ceri: you asked how we were doing out here and I think you asked what we were doing. This is only the second video of yours I've seen in all my borned life. I stumbled into a craft room tour of yours on Saturday 23 March 2022. So much information that it draws me to watch more of what you do. I was a self-taught crochet artist from 1986 until my hubby died in 2018. Hubby was a huge part of my crochet life. Grief felt like it was eating me alive. One year and two days after hubby died I decided to paper craft. It was a thing I'd never done before meaning that hubby and I never shared the joy of paper craft thus allowing me to engage in it and leave grief behind for short spaces in time. I'm kinda dumber than a box of rocks in regard to paper craft, but my dumbness allows me room to watch all forms of paper craft videos so that I can make an educated guess which parts of papercraft I'd like to invest in. So, as to how I'm doing, I'm happily progressing in gathering knowledge and what am I doing, I only know how to make elementary level memory albums and journals so I'd have to say that what I'm doing is taking a break from what I sort of know how to do and spending a little time seeing what else I might be interested in trying.

Cheryl I’m sorry for your loss and excited for your new journey, over the past two years we’ve lost eight family members and friends to the virus and the year before that I lost my mother who was my rock so I understand your grief but creativity has saved my sanity and the joy it brings me lights even my darkest days. Enjoy the process of discovery and exploration and you’ll find your style and new passion I’m sure. Thank you for your kind comments and good luck.

@@CeriGriffiths Oh my goodness, the pain and agony of losing friends and family to COVID!!! I'm so sorry that you have to live with the hollow spaces that leaves in one's self. My Mom moved on to heaven 7 years ago & my Dad jumped ship to heaven last year. My family has been touched by various stages of the COVID virus and thank goodness all of us except my Dad are still here. Dad was 97 years old and had been ready to go since shortly after Mom went. Any how, thank you for the hope and encouragement that the current crafty path I've chosen doesn't have to be a dead end road. I hope some day to have paper craft knowledge get stuck in my head like you and Gayle have; right now I have to go watch videos that I've saved, or else look in my crafty notes place to find out how to do a certain thing I want to include in books, journals, or just try to see if I can make it. You are a great teacher with your "un-tutorial videos" I like that style of teaching where you explain what you're using and your own personal technique using those items, but you don't put up brick walls to hem anyone in. You give ideas, not barriers!! Any way, have a good rest of your day, or if this arrives in your in box at night, here's a whispered 'have a good sleep'.

I think you are on the right path. I have crocheted for 55+ years. I still crochet a lot. But got into making cards & journals when I retired. This is the BEST community of people I've ever known or seen. And I've thoroughly enjoyed watching paper craft videos on YT. Ceri has a super good channel. So you will do well here. And there are so many others,...all over the world. They have changed my life. My 1st video was Natasha, at Treasure Books. I do learn more on Ceri's channel than most. So I really appreciate his channel. Welcome.

It was my daughters favorite colors and design on that print ❤️❤️❤️ ( she passed away 3 years ago, she would have loved doing this and this print especially) copper and purple oh my how gorgeous, I agree , one of the reasons I love gel printing is we have very little control, it’s a surprise how they turn out. Eliza, Gelli plates for printing are definitely a considered purchase as they’re not cheap, I’ve heard you can make the plates however they’re based on food products so home made plates don’t last that long but can be melted back down and reformed, I’ve never done it but there are plenty of KZbin’s on how to make a Gelli plate. I’ve heard you can do something similar with a sheet of plexiglass or a rubber Matt, again I’ve not done that either so I’d suggest doing a bit of a search on KZbin for Gelli printing without a Gelli plate, or maybe mono printing without a Gelli plate, the results will never be exactly the same but they may be close.

Hi Ceri. Did I hear you right when you said you just oiled your jelly plate? Are you supposed too? I didn't know that, how often do you do it? Is there a certain oil to use? Does jelly plates dry out? I hope I haven't ruined mine. I've left it out for a couple weeks..

Deb don’t worry you’ll be fine, I had my plate for over a year before I was told I could condition it with oil, normally you’d use a baby oil or a mineral oil (normally for conditioning wooden chopping boards). Over time your Gelli plate can dry out and the paints you use to print with with draw moisture out of the plate. If you touch your plate surface with your finger and it’s sticky your plate is fine, if you touch your plate and it’s not very sticky and it feels a little dry then it’s a good idea to condition it. I would put a few drops of mineral onto my plate, massage it in, leave it sit for about ten minutes then wipe any excess off, some people don’t even wipe off the excess they just let it soak in. I use my plates a lot so I condition maybe one a month. Don’t forget there are two sides to the plate so condition both sides. I hope that helps, maybe do a KZbin search on conditioning Gelli plates as I’m sure there’s many methods and points of view.

250gsm but I’m not sure what that is in pounds, but to be honest it doesn’t matter as I print onto any weight including tissue.
