I did this, and then went to my local lending library. I held another piece of wire in my left hand, and a dvd or a book in the right. When I got home, I found that I had overloaded the circuitry in my TV, so had to go back to the library and borrow a paperback. So definitely my life has improved.

Du bist so genial. Ich "genieße" deine Tipps immer. Der 1. und der letzte Tip habe ich auch schon gemacht. Das war Ende '80 (1980) Anfang '90er (1990) Jahre. Nun bin ich froh zu sehen, dass ich damals alles richtig machte. 😄 Nur mit Schleifpapier die Kabel angeraut, habe ich nicht. Es funktionierte aber dennoch prima. Die Idee mit der Spirale als Antenne ist auch super. Habe nämlich im Bad ein Radio ohne Antenne und nur ein Metallkabel gerade hoch zur Decke gelegt. Also ohne Windungen. Es funktioniert nur begrenzt. Ich denke mir, dass ich mit deiner Idee einen besseren Empfang haben werde. Most folks in the 80's just jammed a metal hanger into the spot where the coax cable goes into. It's the same thing, and it only takes about 2 minutes. Sometimes you may need to have your kid stand there and hold it for awhile during a football game, but that's why we have kids....

It's amazing how copper wire loops can receive television waves, can you explain that?

The coiled wire acts as a signal boost inductor. Over the Air channels are signal frequencies that if captured and boosted properly and fed through to your television or digital bconverter box, most modern televisions made in the early 2000's have the digital conversion box built right in. I use homebrew antennas, and boosters on my own televisions and stereo equipment and it works as good if not better than the $15+ per piece on retail antennas. And when you build your own, you learn new things such as magnetism, inductance, and basic low to no voltage electronics. The electric lamp plug was a good touch. Adding the coil loop between the prongs created a form of electromagnetic inductor to collect and boost over the air television frequencies and make them usable
