Nice video indeed! And if you replace the first the last clove hitch by a constrictor knot, you need no anchoring knot at the beginning and can cut the ends really short...

Depends on how long you want it to hold and how easy it is to take down. Could have been done with transom knots instead of clove hitches for a longer term set up.

This particular form of floor lashing does have some interesting advantages (namely the strength of the lashing), however, the one major draw back this has compared to a traditional floor lashing is it requires more para cord.

These are not even lashes, they are nothing more than a series of knots. There is a distinct difference between a lash and a knot.

If you know how to make a cord from scratch of various fibers or cloth strips (double strand twist), there's also a way to bind sticks or slats into it to make a similar structure. However it takes at least two sets done side-by-side to keep it from flopping out of the twist, as tension against the materials in the twist is what locks it in place. Such tends to be useful for stuff like making (crude?) tatami mats, or roll up coverings for doors or windows on a basic shelter.

Uh huh. Ya. Right. Maybe these YouTubal hands are attached to a humanoid bipedal carbon unit with some kind of voice that could perhaps be used to explain/describe what the heck we are seeing when the fingers go round and round and up and down and inside and out and over and under--are you following me? Granted, the end result is impressive. Just sayin.
