You remind me a presenter who bragged about himself for a third of his time. But you have good ability to laugh together with audience, which I admire!

I watched this video two times. What is the message professor? Is it that higher education is important? I agree. Is it that engaged learning is useful or not useful? Is it that you are all doing some good work at the colleges and helping students? Do we really need a TEDx talk for that? I will be grateful if you can help me understand the key message in this talk.

The thing is here that when a person has an ambition and work hard then she/he can reach his/her destination. This is a key message in this talk.

It's all in the context for me. He used context about his experience on how education is an active process. It's not just about classroom techniques, it's also on creating an experience, which unfortunately people see it as boasting about his career.

There is a reason why China is one of the top in the world the education table. That reason is because those that enter the universities as tutors are Intellectuals and professors that feel a responsibility to their students and their academic furtherance as they go into society,By not corrupting their minds but allowing the young mind draw it's own conclusion from the world they live in. creating codes of conduct and respect for those around them. In a competitive country where education is the most certain key to being in the work force and innovation is paramount to your security and the lifestyle you wish to lead. This is what America seems to have lost over the years. A slap dash system in it's education program where by the illiteracy rate has be come higher than before in schools, collages and universities in the American inner cities. A lack of educators initiative to teach anything other than politics and hate. Intellectuals and professors teaching anarchy and hatered, people that have never had a life outside a class room. In fact the despondent intellectual unachiever, that have no interest in their students just an easy pay cheque. These people are paid by the state to teach and guide their students, so that they have a fair chance in life to compete in the work force and fore fill their aspirations and dreams. These are the type of people that should be removed from teaching by having a closer inspection on what they are teaching and how. Teacher can only teach if they have the enthusiasm in the subject that they teach. That in turn is picked up by the student. it's the teachers job to capture the imagination of the student, and the students interests and capitalize on that. The same as it is the job of the school, collage, Academy or university to accommodate the needs of the student. You are preparing the student for going out into society and the work force. Not a base ball game.

The criticism of education (including higher education) is obvious and needed. The single good cases do not change the whole picture, Even if somebody achieved 50 or 80, in better system this person could achieve 100 or 150. We do not claim that the current education system is worth ZERO. We claim, that this system do not help people enough. That's all ...

Usually introductions are about 251 words, but boy, was this a long intro. What can I say, good for you, professor, but not everyone is as fortunate as you to go to college and grad school; the rest of those who can't afford it, or don't have an altruistic sponsor like you, what are they going to do? Surely, a society can't only be comprised of higher educated people. Why not respect those that want to learn a skill, and give them a chance to life as well? Plus, what about this nonsense the higher educated students do lately? How do they prove their intelligence and highly cultivated minds? The auto shop mechanic or the janitor can beat them anytime when it comes to common sense. It doesn't look very promising that they are learning anything useful in those school. A few persevere and succeed, but many do nothing more than becoming part of the elitist mediocrity. Where is the practicality in that, where is the advancement and the merit here, in the name of higher education? It's all about the paycheck at the end of the week.
