Alicia, to make a point. If you've been staying in the same home for a long time and decided to move suddenly but haven't thought about what exactly you want but you make your agents house hunt for you. You're just wasting your and their time since they're just gonna take you to places only they can think of. Cause you're not giving any ideas yourself. Made even worse that you promise them a ton of money if you decide. So it's more than understandable they'd be pissed at you when they're giving their all and you're giving none cause you didn't take the time to figure yourself out first.

@@aliciaxdeath Aside from that, she's also taking some personal frustrations out on the Wizard - she knows *exactly* what she wants in her own "Dream Dungeon", but lacks the funds and means to get it built, while she's seeing him hem and haw with literally *everything* at his fingertips, and after hours (and likely a shitload of traveling) of showing him places that he'd shot down for one reason or another. To be fair, she has anger issues. (Possibly genetic. I don't know, I haven't seen the Minotaur's stat block in the RPG rulebook this fantasy settingis based on.) Being aware of her anger issues is not the same thing as being able to control her anger issues. She told the Dragon she was struggling. He told her to keep working. I'm not saying she's in the right or she won't hopefully grow from here with a character arc. I'm just not exactly sure what you wanted her to do differently. @MidnightLucario1 I agree that there are a lot of good reasons as to why the wizard's methods should have been frustrating and the protagonists could have been justified in their frustrations with The Ace of Wands. However, I don't think the pilot did a good job at conveying those feelings well. @aliciaxdeath I would like to have seen Maulie asking more questions of the Ace of Wands and him communicating that he hasn't really thought about it. I love indie animations. I love the art style and the VA work on display here. I'm a little nervous about the writing and direction. There's something about the tempo that seems a little slow compared to other animations. There are a few too many pauses in the dialogue that feel natural in speech, but don't translate into animation. BUT that isn't something the creators can't overcome. And I'd love to see more!

I mean she did say she was one of the few Manticore who tries not to resort to violence which is to say Manticores are naturally pissed off and extremely aggressive (I mean, her parents destroyed her home because of a family dispute, holy crap). So her having a break dealing with a client giving zero input on what they want because of a personal issue she had no way of knowing about while also being one of the most violently angry races in the realm...makes sense actually imo.

NGL, If I were a real estate agent I'd never want to sell the void. It's basically a perfect house showroom. Just bring the customer here and have them SHOW you what they want, have them build their dream home and then you can have a clear idea on what they want and go from there. And for difficult customers like this one you could do what they did and build for them and get an idea on what they like and you can use that, too. I'd operate my agency FROM this void. First, thanks for the video, I'm glad to see more people watching this show! As an artist, the Ace of Wands is like a commissioner applying for an art piece, giving a general but workable description like "A dragon, that's big and scary, and cool.", but then every rough sketch I show them to give me a proper direction to go in, they just respond with "Nah, a different one." or "I'm not feeling this one.", etc, and little if any other feedback. Even if I ask specific questions or make suggestions. There is a breakdown in communication and one side doesn't realize it, or isn't doing their share to fix it, for one reason or another. You are right in that Maulie still shouldn't have snapped at him, especially when it became apparent that even he didn't know what he actually wanted but was too embarrassed to admit it. Rather, she should have tried to help him get that spark of imagination back, or at least explain the breakdown in communication from her perspective to maybe get some actual feedback. But their emotions got the better of them both. I'm glad they're reasonably fallible characters though, and that they learned and grew from it. Also maybe they should ask some mental health questions before taking anybody into that space huh?
@RolandOnnaRiver4 ай бұрын
Maulie takes the quality of her work very seriously. It's not about the commission. It's about overcoming her limitations to share her vision. 👍
@dragonmanfirebane50784 ай бұрын
Alicia while I do somewhat agree with you're assessment on how Maulie acted on the job, I do feel there is some needed context. because this is a pilot episode we only have a very basic understanding of the backstory anyway, so if any of the context that wasn't in the video changes you're opinion on anything I would love to know. So from what I and others who looked deeper into the project know; that Maulie isn't just building her own home she is re-building her family dungeon that was destroyed in a very messy family divorce when Mauile was young. so hey we have some the fun family trauma to unpack with its symbol being a literal broken home along with other issues that Maulie thinks can be fixed to any extent buy re-building her old home(no matter how naive it sounds). on another note I can't remember if it was asked or shown but Maulie I do believe(don't quote me on this) is an apprentice realtor as of the pilot and more then likely a fair portion of the series. Now I have no way to back this up unlike her family divorce, but as far as I can tell and remember cleaveland is supposed to be Maulie's mentor for learning the job as he is a senior member of the Dungeon Flippers with his mother who is the owner of the company. Now I understand Maulie did mess up with the Ace of wands at first, but she probably is still just a newbie in the business I know that is a bad excuse but if you never had a difficult customer before it can be uniquely frustrating(speaking from experience from retail). all that being said you did have some valid points about those critiques, never try to work a job that makes you angry it will only end badly....
@Crovan_corpseknight4 ай бұрын
It's understandable why she got upset he was giving very little to work with, damaged other property, she's got her own issues going on and yeah she made a mistake blowing up at him like that doesn't mean shes terrible at her job. Also, they were paid after she got mad at him, not before. She didn't get upset even though they were paid that much. Also, taking time off work when you're having a bad day, places I worked didn't get that privilege and they're a monster company not human company so situations are different. She definitely messed up not saying she didn't, but more to consider then just her screw ups and what's shown in just this episode.

Hm. I'm chalking this up to a bad day. If Maulie is as good as she's treated to be, she probably sells dungeons pretty easily. Then along comes a customer she doesn't read right who himself doesn't quite know what he wants, and that brick wall enflames her frustration. The personal struggle with rebuilding her own dungeon likely also contributed. Her partner was surprised by her outburst, so I'm guessing this is out of the ordinary, and I consider it a testament to her character that she immediately realized her mistake and conceived of a way to correct it. Still, she didn't drunkenly cut into a coworker's thigh with a rusty alien sword, so it's not the worst first impression. (Lower Decks! 'Ritos strong! Choo choo!)

I bet the reason the wizard didn't know what he wanted (and was being difficult about each place) is a combination of: He's been in one place focusing on a project for 300 years (plus how ever long he was there before the wand project), he liked his old place to begin with (and only left because no one was around anymore), and his old place may of not been his choice in the first place, he may of been given it by a family member (so his parents would chew him out for turning his nose up at it).

Its funny, Maulie thinks she's a good real-estate agent, but considering her reaction to the wizard not jumping for the first property, and her reaction to his undeceive/non-visionary attitude, I bet she's used to getting a sale the first try, and to customers who do a lot of work on their new property like knocking out a wall, adding a different one, repainting the whole place, and overall going for a creative/highly-motivated/artistic change to the place... not selling to a person who just wants to move to a new place.

it depends how one views it for maulie and the wizard. note that the wizard chose to contact them meaning he needed help finding a new home. maulie and cleaveland as agents agree to accept the client request to seek a new home. from here it gets tricky. i get what you say on if the home doesnt jive with the person then thats perfectly fine and move onto next place to see if its the one or not. its their job to be patient and try to find the ideal home. but if the wizard still doesnt like the home then in the end he could have gone back to his old home and wait, imho he is burning their time since they took in this client to get him a home. but yeah maulie became unprofessional there on snapping at him. depending on how one views this next part for her she lost her family dungeon and is trying to rebuild it and do to that she got that strong passion on dungeons and to her she gets frustrated with the client got alot of money, can easily buy a home. she doesnt have a dedicated/proper home and working her butt off to rebuild what was lost. the client could get a new home if they wanted in just minutes while for her it will take years depending on time/money she got, hence the whole miracle money thing to speed up that process. overall it is a pilot so certain hooks will be loose or dont connect well at all since it is a indie passion project first then a studio with bunch of animators/storyboard artists. but the idea is interesting and paints the main character on who they are, why they have this job, whats their goal in life. if down the road the animator gets more ppl onboard to help make it and/or later someone pick them up to air/stream somewhere then there will be more polish and better planning on show with for sure a proper story laid out.

I mean... if you yourself can't give any pointers to the agents even after "reviewing" so many potential places to stay... you're kind of the asshole here for wasting time and doing literally nothing.

Unpopular opinion. This shouldn't be picked up. It doesn't have enough potential for a full series or possibly even a season. I love it and hope it gets more episodes but I don't think a studio would look at this and think there's enough material.

nice to see you don't want people to get big, why would you say it "shouldn't" be picked up? you literally don't have to watch it if you don't want to but thousands of others might want that.

10:11 since when is it ilegal to say your age on the internet lmao real name ye thats dumb , but age ? really ?
@aliciaxdeath4 ай бұрын
Because it’s a rule in my community. There are a lot of online predators so in order to lead by example I made it so no one says their age. Caring about the safety of my viewers means something to me.

@@aliciaxdeath why not do it only for those 18- ? restricting adults too seems unecesary but i understand now . thanks
@aliciaxdeath4 ай бұрын
@@kalashydra9016 nope. Because applying the rules to everyone and keeping it equal also provides safety. Other communities are welcome to do that. I just choose not to within my own

Good show, too bad the main character is unlikable (at least in my opinion), like episode one she "accidentally" convinced a dude to end himself by yelling her own insecurities at him.
@D_YellowMadness4 ай бұрын
Putting "accidentally" in quotation marks doesn't make it intentional.

You are wrong she is likeable

@@marquisepixley684 Hey see that part when I said "in my opinion"? It's almost like I am speaking on behalf of myself and not every fucking person on the planet, dickhead

@@D_YellowMadness ofc, she didn't tell him to go off himself, she just yelled her own insecurities at the dude and he got depressed and then got swallowed by the void, hence accidentally. I don't see the point of your comment
@sarafontanini70514 ай бұрын
@@WillGlacier the point is that putting something in quotations has an implication of sarcasm or untruthfulness. Its basically poor grammar and they're jsut correcting your incorrect usage of the quotations c: and if you think that's enough for a character to be unlikable, there are FAR worse out there than maulie.
