CREATIVE CV - HOW TO GET YOUR DREAM JOB | CV Q&A, DO'S AND DON'TS + MORE | SASKIA MARRIOTT

HELLO and welcome back to my KZbin channel! Thank you so much for all your love and support over the last few months! I had a little hiatus and spent some qual time with my loved ones the last few weeks over Christmas, but now I am BACK, and this is a good one!
I said AGES ago I would do a video more indepth about creative CV's and never got round to it, so I filmed this just before Christmas finally!
SO this video is all about ME shock and how I landed my first ever job at a huge fast fashion brand and HOW I did it, I answer all your questions and giving out any tips and advice that I can, including the do's and don'ts of creative CV's! (get a cuppa this is a long one soz x)

Good tips Saskia - even for non creative CVs- eg put the most important / relevant bits first & less is more. The CV needs to really reflect who you are & be enough to get you an interview. Then you can take the selling to the next level. Plus networking & using LinkedIn well is important. All the best for the new role at ISIF X

I think a smaller, therefore lighter, claw hair clip might work better - I’ve never been able to use the really big clips. X

This is so helpful thank you! When you post your CV to these companies, do you attach a cover letter styled front page giving an intro into what it is you’ve sent and why etc? Xx

would you recommend connecting with an employer, whos company you have an interview at, before your interview? or does that come across as creepy and stalkerish🤣 this video really helped me! im looking to get into the industry with no degree or experience and ive finally got a job interview, so thank you for all your tips!!! :) xx

hey, I would 100% recommend connect with anyone in recruitment/HR if you can to try get your foot in the door - and I would also recommend the manager/most senior member of the department to reach out to them too (thats what I did for both my jobs) but I would say hold off on adding the whole team until you get the job/meet them all haha! you're so welcome, good luck! xx

Would you say that there is currently less job opportunities because of covid? And I’m curious to know wether covid has effected the hiring process at all? Loved the video, it was super helpful 💖💖

Not that I know of! I think most fashion brands like online fashion have really grown in the last year, so if anything there's probably more availability now than ever before! I started looking for another job around Feb time (pre-COVID) and really struggled to find anyone hiring, whereas towards November/December I think most fast fashion brands were growing their social teams!

if you dont have relevant work experience but you DO have a relevant degree (mine is a masters and I did specific research on certain companies) is it still not advisable to put your education first?

I think possibly put your masters right under your name - so KARA LOWES - MA ............. - obviously up to you but just think sometimes you learn more on a job/experience than you do from a degree! My degree defo taught me a lot but I learnt more in my first week on the job than I did at uni xxx
