Drummer, DJ, producer, culinary entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, and bandleader of The Roots - Questlove, is the unmistakable heartbeat of Philadelphia’s most influential hip-hop group. He is the Musical Director for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where his beloved Roots crew serves as house band. Beyond that, this 4-time GRAMMY Award winning musician's indisputable reputation has landed him musical directing positions with everyone from D'Angelo to Eminem to Jay-Z. As always, an awesome interview. There's a decent amount of great stuff in here, but interviewers keep asking him the same questions. I can think of 3-4 other interviews that share a lot of the same content found here. Audience members usually come with a fresh approach, though, and I appreciate that. Ahmir's got so much to share!

I have the audio book and I forgot which part of the book he talked about it.Pretty sure he wrote he wanted to work with them because of the odd harmonies the 2 girl singers in the group would sing. Why painful to watch? If anything I found it painful to listen to because of the constant scratching of Ahmir's beard on the badly placed mic. ;-)
