Yes, the Gemini is loud 😬 If you remove the metal shim from the manufacturer’s recommended sandwich, it still cuts most dies well; since there is less pressure, it doesn’t warp the plates. Save the metal shim for large intricate dies.👍 Thanks for sharing another colorful project and welcome home!

I love listening to you and your commentary. Can relate to seven people in the household but once my kids hit 12, they were responsible for their own laundry. Three had to wear white shirts to school, so 15 white shirts/week. Not my responsibility since I worked full time. When we were first empty nesters, had a difficult time adjusting the amount of food I cooked but eventually learned to adjust quantities.

Tape your plate and mats together to keep the warping minimal. J.McGuire has a video. Used the same plates for over a year and no warping

Hey Laura! I didn't realize that you had made a video for this card! Only now coming across it. I tried to replicate this card from your IG page with my own twist and using the supplies I had on hand a couple weeks ago. I had tagged you when I posted mine and thankfully you responded! Whoot Whoot!! I wish I had known about this video at that time because, let me tell you, I made mine the hard way! I used Press and Seal to hold the bits together but the rest was labor intensive! Anyway, I have saved this video to my KZbin "Cards" folder for future reference. You are awesome!!

I just love this card... your blending is superb as always. Welcome to my laundry life...I have six kids and used to take care of my dad... there were 9 of us here... only 5 now... but laundry is an endless source of frustration. Ugh!

Hi, LB - You are always a mood booster. Love this card and the commentary. I would rather add foam tape - even about 40 little pieces like you did - than dust. I dust often b/c I hate to see dust. I have been eyeing that die but could not figure out what to do with it besides making a cool background stripe on a card. Now I have plenty of ideas. I was shocked to hear you descend to discussing "ho"s. 😂😂😂 How long are you back in the US? Until the fall? Love your work - this very CAS card especially - and consider you a crafty sister! L in PA

Great design and rainbow colors. My Gemini junior is loud, too. The magic mat is too thick with the cutting plates and warped the top cutting plate. I need to find a different sandwich for die cutting.

1ST-OOF LOVE THIS!😍 2ND-UGH I bought the Full size Gemini when its 1st debuted on HSN. It warped my plates 1st use! It got worse n worse n yes i rotated. I contacted CS and I exchanged it(they said the calibration was off,too tight) 2nd machine, 1st use, more warpage🤦‍♀️. So I used my big shot n now i got the Platinum 6 from Spellbinders. I keep my full size Gemini as a back up but I never use it. And it IS VERY NOISY especially when those plates pop out violently, lol. 😬😆

Love this card, Laura! My Gemini warps my plates like crazy! I just bought a replacement mat thingy that you can use to replace one of the cutting plates (saw it on Jennifer McGuire’s channel). I haven’t used it yet, but I’m hopeful that it will last longer than the Gemini plates. As for the noise, mine is kind of loud, but not as bad as my hubby’s blender.

This is a gorgeous card 😍 gemini plates warp quickly....tip they give is to rotate and flip plates every time u use but I stil find warping....also it is fairly noisy but if u mean cracking sounds thats normal for gemini plates

I had trouble with warping even though I rotated my plates with every cut. That did help some, but I found Jennifer McGuire's method of taping plates together to work amazingly well! I recommend watching her video "Preventing Gemini Die Cut Machine Plate Warping". I watched this when she released it and I haven't changed my plates yet. I have re-taped, but that's it!

Wonderful card! I love how you cover so many topics yet get the card done. I have had other die cutting machines. All the plates warp. If you can turn them over it helps. I will have to try the Reeses sticks, sounds heavenly!

I don't have a Gemini, but I did hear it on a video a long time ago. That noise alone made me go "nope". I already have hearing issues, I don't need more damage. I think the same about the super duper powerful blenders. Yeah they have power alright, but who wants to be become deaf over a smoothie?? :| Love your card! :D

When I first got the Gemini Jr. I thought it was quite noisy but when I used it again the other day I was surprised that it was so much quieter. So it may have been because the it was sitting on something that had a cushion and therefore muffled the sound and the plates may also have something to do with the noise level.

Deceptively simple but beautiful card. Great transfer technique of the hexagons. (PS I’d be telling anyone who didn’t pick their laundry up that they’re doing it themselves from now on!)

"Rainbow is my favorite color!" Love that quote and it reminds me of your designs! I have a Big Shot machine and use a metal shim on bottom, the i-crafter i-mend Self-Mending cutting deck, card stock with die on top face down, and a regular cutting plate on top. I'm having good success with this combo and no warping or cracking noise when die cutting! I first saw this on Jennifer McGuire's blog.

Gorgeous card! I am very disappointed with my Gemini Jr. I saved my pennies until I could buy it to replace my cuttle bug and my plates warp badly. I feel my Gemini Jr is too tight also. I rarely use it because of the instant warping. I’m back to my totally worn out cuttle bug.

Jennifer McGuire has a video on how to use Gemini Jr. cutting plates. I, too, have a Gemini and followed Jennifer's advice. Glad I did!!! Still some warping but not much.

I did several pads of laundry yesterday. Even I am Guilty of not taking my basket upstairs to put it away last night. Ughh. At least it is all clean and folded. 3 neat little piles on the couch and two baskets full. We are having company by Friday. So at least I have a deadline to get it put away by. Pathetic but deadlines are the only true way I get stuff done.

great card laura...i honestly stopped using my gemini junior...it was loud and the plates warp way too fast...i’m in canada so replacing them often was just not an option...not cost effective...so i’ve gone back to my big kick

Yes, my Gemini Jr. is loud and the plates warp bad and quickly although they are doing better after Jennifer McGuires video on the plates. However I really prefer my Anna Griffin Mini Empress, much quieter and the plates are holding up! I will probably end up investing in the larger Empress Machine!

Beautiful card, will definitely try this technique ❤️ I have the same problem with my Gemini plates. I completely ruined my first set, then was so disappointed, as it takes so much effort to get the severely warped plates through, but eventually bought some new ones. Thought I won't use embossing folders with it, as I have a Big Shot, and thought they warped the plates. I eventually used it again, followed their instructions to the T, and the plates warped straight away! I randomly came across an old video with Sarah basically telling you if you do it like it says in their instruction booklet, they warp! I was livid! They cost a lot of money, and who wants to buy plates when you can buy stamps, inks or dies?! Basically, don't add the metal plate or the magnetic shim, unless it isn't cutting, then just add the magnetic shim. I only use my Gemini for intricate dies, as there's no chance with the Big Shot, and it does tell you to use the magnetic and metal shim. They are not my favourite company! Anyway, hope that nugget might help. Nothing wrong with cream walls! Everything goes with them ❤️

my magic mat didn't work with the gemini jr - it's too thick; have to force it through.

All I do is a cutting plate on bottom, the magic mat(my die)and then a cutting plate on top. Seems to work ok, but everything is warping!

Could you have added the foam tape to the back of the blended paper and used the die to cut them out foam tape and all? I know it might have to run thru more than once to cut them all.

It's not you, the Gemini is very loud when you aren't used to it. Also the plates warp really badly, really quickly. I have had some success with swapping out all but one of the clear plates for an A5 cutting mat and a clear plate from my Sizzix Big Shot, which seems to be a little bit thinner - but even that sandwich is quite badly warped now (it's been three months). The plates are definitely the downside of the Gemini system.
